Since we kind of know what draft picks the Celtics have coming up, I figured it couldn't hurt having a list of the TPEs they have as well.  Found this at csnne.com

BOSTON CELTICS TRADE EXCEPTIONS
HOW ACQUIRED   AMOUNT   EXPIRES
Kris Humphries   $1,334,092   7/19/2015
Keith Bogans   $285,816   9/25/2015
Joel Anthony   $152,757   10/19/2015
Rajon Rondo   $12,909,090   12/18/2015
Marcus Thornton   $1,336,394   2/19/2016
Tayshaun Prince   $7,707,865   2/19/2016

I wouldn't be surprised if we used those trade exceptions and stayed over the cap this summer. I expect the C's to keep these trade exceptions right until they find someone who will commit to taking their free agent dollars.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I'm trying to figure out who would want to shed salary thus allowing the Celtics to be opportunistic.

Maybe the Bulls and then Taj Gibson is available?

TP.  I've believed this for a while.  They can be very useful in trades.  See the end result of the 10 mil Pierce TE is Zeller and Thomas.

Right I agree, say we do not find the right fit via free agency.  If we agreed to take on Gibson who would we want?  I would like to get away from draft picks, could we get snell or mcbuckets?

I trust DA will find a use for them to improve us.  The Rondo one might be real nice if coupled with picks.

Yeah really. But if we at any point get under the cap we lose all out TPEs right? I get that Danny can manage it(go under the cap if we can sign someone and stay above if not) but I would like to understand the sequence of events better.

They seem useless to me. Can anyone explain how they can help us at all this off-season?

I mean I guess if we make a big trade, we can use them to supplement those big pieces.

Taj Gibson is a desirable player and there is no shortage of teams who would want him.  The Celtics should be giving up assets in any deal with Chicago.

The obvious scenario is using Wallace's contract in a sign and trade, using the Rondo exception to acquire someone, and still being able to go over the cap using the Prince exception and the full MLE, creating an ensemble that wouldn't be possible to assemble using cap space.

I would look to Golden State, they have stated they need to dump a salary to be able to extend Green and stay under the tax (currently at 77 mil). I would be more than happy to take either Lee's or Boguts salary with the price being Harrison Barnes

I thought about them too, but the thing is trade for Lee we'd have to absorb him via our cap space, as his cap number is higher than the Rondo TE.
