Very interested in which way we go here. Ideal summer for me would be to get LA and Deandre in here. If we could roll out a lineup of

Smart/IT
AB
Turner
Aldridge
Jordan

We would be big time contenders. All the rebounding and defense you need from a starting unit. Scoring from Aldridige, AB, Tuner, and Smart who will get better with another summer of hard work. Then the defense of AB,Smart, and Jordan would be very tough. I know its a pipe dream but still!

Ainge isn't wrong here.  Scoring is definitely a need.  But in my humble opinion, rim protection/meat in the middle is more dire right now.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Develop James Young, bring AB off the bench. Trade for DMC, get rid of Sully, and use KO as our floor spacer. Run a fast paced but patient motion offense. Bring back Paul Pierce, and use Crowder and Datome/Babb for our SF rotation. Go after Fredette as our point guard off the bench, perfect three point shooter that can shoot and pass. Wouldn't mind using a low first round for Harkless either. He still has room to grow.

Smart/Fredette
Young/Bradley/
Pierce/Crowder or Harkless
KO/ FA
DMC/FA

Portland "imploded in the playoffs"? Did OKC implode this season? Dealing with injuries isn't the same as a team inexplicably collapsing. It's silly to suggest that Portland imploded as if they were the 2013-14 Pacers.

That said, I think it's a complete toss-up that Aldridge leaves: he did seem pretty disillusioned with everything during the playoffs and with the report of him being the only Blazer to fly home separately after one of their losses against the Grizzlies and his noncommittal stance to re-signing with Portland ("we'll see"), I wouldn't be surprised in the least if he thinks Portland is too far away from truly contending.

I would posit that Portland imploded much more last year, when they got bounced by San Antonio.

That team would be so fun to watch. Wow. Great job you did putting that all together. Man oh man if that happened we would be so tough for years to come.

THAT WILL NEVER, wait a minute...that's not a bad trade at all, sure we will give up more than half of our first to get it done, but Cousins and Butler...

my o my, young and tough team. Not sure if they will be instant playoff threats or playoff contenders in the first year, but man that team will have so much toughness starting from Smart, Cousins and Crowder...

Some things I got from the press conference

1.  The UFA (Bass, Jerebko) will ride on the backseat for now until the draft is over. And even after you have to negotiate a mutual satisfying deal , not to mention consider outside FAs to bring in.  Imo both Bass and Jerebko are not coming back next season.  Maybe Jerebko, no Bass

2. Crowder will be made an offer (no surprise). Surprised nobody asked about his leg injury situation. If he will need surgery

3. If there was no international ball, KO would be back for a third summer league stint.   KO really needs to keep working on his body.  Become a better defender without fouling. Believe in his game. Don't be scared to miss

4. Sullinger will be given all the tools to comeback at top shape (15-20 pounds of fat loss , I imagine , without sacrificing much strength. Up to Sullinger ultimately)

Not gonna yell or call you dumb, but getting Cousins and Butler this off-season is more than a pipe dream.

It's a "riding a dragonicorn (that's a unicorn dragon hybrid) through a field of sunflowers playing electric guitars while Celine Dion signs the Titanic theme with words changed so it's all about how awesome you are" dream.

It might happen, you never know. The chances are slim though.
