//"Literally, if you ask anyone in our locker room, Kelly can't box out to save his life," Turner said after Cleveland closed out the sweep with a 101-93 victory. "No joke. He boxes out teammates like that all the time in practice."

Turner implied that Olynyk was simply ineffective, rather than dirty, as he fought for a rebound on the play that might have changed Cleveland's championship hopes. The outspoken guard's thoughts came on the heels of Love's post-game comments, however, which painted a very different picture.

"I thought it was a bush-league play," Love said. "...I have no doubt in my mind that he did it on purpose."//

Ainge on the same topic

//Ainge says the Cleveland forward was "a little over the top" in his complaint that Olynyk tried to hurt him on purpose. Ainge said he sympathizes with Love, who had waited his whole career to make the playoffs. Love will miss the rest of the postseason with a dislocated shoulder.
Ainge says he thought it was "just a foul - two guys going for a loose ball."//

hold up with the TP for ET...and yes this is another excuse to bash him.

ET should keep quiet about these things, we're trying to trade KO.

i doubt that any nba front office is somehow unaware of olly's ability/inability and his skills, boxing out included. what turner says is not likely to be a revelation to any GM.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I've always felt that Kelly boxes out fairly well . . . despite Evan's opinion on the matter.

Not sure how I feel about ET putting Kelly on the spot like that

I guess you could say because of the limitations of Kelly's game, he made a poor decision. I wish I could say it looked like an accident...but it didn't. Viewing the play in slow motion, you could actually see Kelly pulled Love's arm to stop him from getting to the ball, all while Kevin was kind of flat footed and braced against Kelly's knee. ouch!

I don't think Kelly tried to injure Love on purpose. But if I were Kelly I wouldn't vacation in lovely Downtown Cleveland anytime in the next decade.

Don't be surprised if Cleveland plays better without Love.

No doubt KO work's at it...he knows what his assignments are, I agree he boxes out fairly well when he's under the boards. The fact is... Kelly tries.

Kelly sucks at boxing out because he goes chest to chest with the opponent vs. turning around and putting his butt into someone. It's not that hard I box out people bigger than me all the time, he's just being stupid about it.

Kelly is a sloppy player no matter what he does he just has no form and bad approach to the game. Slaps and grabs at everyone in 2 feet of him lol. He has to learn positioning I said it before he is a foul machine. Someone needs to tie his hands to his side and have him practice defense and rebound exercises with just positioning.

got a question as kelly was pulling love away from ball was there a celtic closing in on it
,-kelly got tangled up and tried to use his unorthodox style to keep love off the ball-
that play was unintentional in respect to harm and nothing more than intanglement and grappling that went bad-

Fully agree with that. I post the video of the injury.
Having said this, one of my best friends is a Cavs fan and he won't have any of it. Much as I dislike LBJ and his team it does suck to lose a key player in the playoffs, and they are understandably angry.
But as a Celtic, for me the main thing is not this incident in isolation but the notorious clumsiness  of Kelly:he has to learn to use his body.
IMO Kelly has two modes: soft  Kelly (99% of the time), which results to easy baskets and rebounds for the other team, and wild Kelly which results in meaningless fouls. He has to find the golden mean between the two.

Not a heck of a lot of boxing out in the NBA anyway.

Lost art. Sully has it, rare as it is.
