Unless we throw silly money, we are not bringing in any big name FAs. Not even Brook Lopez. And Lopez would be really fit this group.
Danny can start throwing around money for the 2016 class. That is a big FA period
With the cap raising 20 mil in 2016, pretty much every team will have cap space. You'll be competing with everyone and unless we have a star or two already in place, I have to imagine there will be plenty of teams more desirable.
Here's hoping Ainge can land someone this summer. We may need to renounce our trade exceptions and let guys like Crowder and Bass walk.
As I've mentioned a few times already, the chances of retaining Crowder are quite high if we work under the assumption that he'd be willing to agree to a deal with the Celtics but wait quite a bit before actually making the deal official.
Why? Because contrary to Bass and Jerebko, his cap hold is quite small, slightly above $1 million... very much doubt that's going to be the difference between signing a free agent or not.
Then besides that, the only way I can see him let go is if someone offers a ridiculous contract, and I'd be tempted to even match that because, as you mention, the cap is going to increase dramatically in the following years, so I'd be hard press not to overspend. And this is coming from someone who while I like how tough he plays, doesn't think that much of him as most around here. It really just depends if he goes after an offer sheet early in the process or not all told, that's the key.
But if there's mutual interest, I think Crowder stays around.
