Well, if I'm Indiana, I probably only have the mle to use, but I'd offer him a 3 year deal at that rate. Alternatively, the Pacers could try to work some sort of sign and trade with the Mavericks in which they give up George Hill, who makes $10-11 a year, iirc.
George Hill is a lot better than Rondo has been in the last few years. I don't see why the Pacers would switch, especially since they supposedly want to play a more up-tempo style.
Umm, that makes no sense, seeing as how Rondo thrives in the open court. The only thing that Hill has on him is shooting, and, judging by Carlisle's refusal to adjust to the players he has, Dallas would clearly be much better off with a spot up shooter like Hill, as he is definitely not a point guard. A 3rd guard on a contender? Yes. A starter? Hell no. The point guard position was a severe weakness of the Pacers whenever they went up against the Heat, with Hill either not showing up entirely or making the wrong decision at the wrong time. Furthermore, with Stephenson gone, Rondo can easily assume Lance's same playmaking responsibilities, and he'd be a great fit with George, imo, because PG is a great shooter who can also come off picks and play off the ball. All you need now is a shooting guard with range to cover for any of Rondo's shooting weaknesses, and that's a hell of a starting five. The collective passing of that team would be outstanding, imo.
I think Rondo would be a good fit on Indiana as well but I'd be concerned about the Hibbert situation. What kind of coach is Vogel? Would he let Rondo run the offense?
Vogel is a good coach, but the problem is that they have no offense, lol.

It must be a system thing, because any team with PG, West, Hibbert, and Stephenson and Granger when they were there should not struggle to score points. Hibbert could be great for Rondo, though, because of his defense and his low post game. I wouldn't be so quick to trade Hibbert if I were Larry, although I certainly understand the frustration with the guy. Ugh.
I don't think that the Pacers need a lot more, especially after Bird got CJ Miles for next to nothing which certainly helps their depth. I think that Lavoy Allen is still there, and we all know what he can do if given the chance, but they need to let Scola walk, as he's simply too much of a defensive liability, imo. It looks like they're not going to bring back Watson, which I don't really understand because he was great for them, and if you're doing a sign-and-trade with Dallas that involves Hill and Rondo, then you're going to need at least another guy who can shoot from the point guard spot, imo. They're also looking to retain Stuckey, which is a good move, imo, and if he's you're third guard, that's a hell of a rotation. The only problem is at sg, and I don't think that they have the resources to get someone like Middleton. Fortunately, they should have the 11th pick and Bird usually drafts well, so that's a big plus heading into next season.
Alternatively, they could just take Jerian Grant or Cameron Payne, or obviously just the bpa, and not have to worry about using their mle on Rondo. I'd opt for both, though, lol.

Get Rondo, jettison George Hill, and take someone like Payne, although I can't find any highlights of him on youtube? Has anyone seen him play or have a link to any of his highlights?
