im not really sure how he fits in with the lakers either though. Kobe is a ball hog. would he be ok with having Rondo handle the ball 90% of the time.

I know he desperately wants rondo there. but would it really work?

Most of the Laker forum fans think it won't it seems.  At least ones who really understand who Kobe and Rondo really are .

I think he might work at Rockets .....pounding the ball , and lobbing  dunks for Howard.

I think Rondo messes up the Laker rebuild .......that's why I hope he goes there.

I think he ends up with a deal closer to 8 million per year, Monta/Mayo sized.

The thing is, even if he is a mediocre pg from now on, with the salary cap going up , 8 million a year will be a bargain for a player like him.

its kind of sad to see Rondo's career go this way. he hardly resembles the same player who averaged a triple double in 2009, or scored 45points against the Heat in 2012 and was one of the best playoff players in the league.

is it system? or did the injury just suck him of his talent?

Mostly injuries I think , some head issues , doesn't want to go into to the paint or play defense with the same vigor , both physical and mental challenges if you ve been hurt. 

He physical edge , fast movement .....like ELFORD Payton does now ...is gone ....the fakes , unusual footwork , catlike reflexes ....not so much anymore

Some folks just don't age well.   Some people jog into their 70 's , others all crippled up at 50 .

He seems reluctant to "bring it " .....it maybe he is just not a agile or quick at 30 yrs old,as he was at 21 years of age.....the damage to his leg may have been worse than anybody knew .

I think it's all in his head.  It all stems from his abysmal FT%.  Now, he's afraid to drive, which used to be the strength of his game.  So, teams just lay off him and dare him to shoot - which he's afraid to do.  If he could somehow get his FT% to about 65% or better, that would open him up as a threat to get in the lane, etc..  I know you might argue that his knees have zapped some of his explosiveness getting in the lane, which is probably true, but to me it's much more driven by his fear of getting fouled.  It's amazing to me that a perfectionist like Rondo can't get his FT% to an acceptable level.  It's some kind of mental block.

It used to be fun to debate Rondo's value on the court. Now, I just feel bad for him. I never felt he could be the best player on a championship team - while many around here did. It was always a legitimate debate though. This rendition of Rondo is a little sad - and hopefully, not a true mark of where he is as a player right now.

The schadenfreude is a bit much though. I had a ton of fun rooting for him as a Celtic. Will always be grateful for 2008, as I am with Ray.

What do you mean abysmal shooting? Dirk shot 46% from the field and 38% from 3. He's shot 38% from 3 for his career.

I sold my Rondo stock years ago at pre-injury assist-streak peak values.  Made a small fortune.  If anyone is selling their remaining worthless shares, I'm happy to buy them at rock bottom prices.  With the salary cap jumping a year from now, teams with the cap space advantage this summer are going to make desperation signings.  Best to utilize the cap space advantage before the rest of the league has cap space to join the party next year.   Someone will settle for Rondo as the splash signing.  Whoever he lands with will let him go back to being poor man's Jason Kidd.  They'll get their money's worth by letting him control the ball for better or worse.  None of this "fit into our system" nonsense.  Rondo-ball will be back.  Those assists will be right back up next season.   I'm looking at stealing him in all of my fantasy basketball drafts this Summer.

 

Yes, and once Rondo ends up in Indy you'll be one of his haters (along with Eddie20) foaming at the mouth as he, PG and Co tear BOS apart.

Or, you two will be ready to jump off a building if he ends up in Lakerville leading a resurgence there.

Your collective hate of Rondo will probably coalesce into a "Green" Black hole, if you will:

While you are correct, he certainly hasn't shot it well enough to help DAL this post-season, eh? He is supposedly the Team Leader.

Why hasn't he put DAL on his back this post-season? For crying out loud The Bearded One hasn't even got started yet, lol.



With Rajon gone, they don't have ANYONE with the guts or courage to even begin to slow The Bearded One down.



And for the record, while the ultra-talented (and mis-informed) fan in that video could indeed edit his song since I was wrong about his FG%, this budding musician could DEFINITELY make millions off of the Lack of D.

And coming from you, throughout this thread, it seems like Rondo can do no wrong.  You're turning everything on Dirk while seemingly absolving Rondo of any wrongdoing but you seem to want to point out events of 3-5 years ago about Rondo's once greatness and your notion that he can be that guy again. 

You're ignoring the real point of this thread which is what happened with Rondo in DAL and pointing fingers at everyone else (Dirk, other CB posters, injuries, whatever)  Trying to throw Dirk under the bus here just makes it appear that you can't handle the Rondo criticism and are just acting in an averting manner.

And I have NEVER, in ANY of my posts, stated that Rondo could do no wrong. Just yesterday, I posted this:

Yes - the Rajon Rondo we are all seeing now is not the same one we saw in BOS from 08-12. Injuries and him laying it on the floor for BOS seemed to have robbed him of that, at least for the time being.

Some posters on here can (and will) state what they see - but oftentimes what we think we see is not the entire truth.

I will always remember the good times in BOS, and what we are seeing from Rajon now will not cloud that, to me.

And as for my Dirk comments - it's his team. Was his team before Rondo go there, was/is his team after Rondo got there. Rondo was supposed to help Dirk get back to the finals. Unfortunately that does not appear to be happening, at least this year. I've mentioned Dirk because for this to be his team, his drop off in play is seemingly being ignored.

As the leader of the team, it is definitely NOT all about Rondo. But I believe that Dirk is getting a free pass.
