  • GOT IT!!!
Rondo could be a good pickup in the middle rounds of a fantasy draft. Just going to depend on who forks over the money to let him do his thing.

its kind of sad to see Rondo's career go this way. he hardly resembles the same player who averaged a triple double in 2009, or scored 45points against the Heat in 2012 and was one of the best playoff players in the league.

is it system? or did the injury just suck him of his talent?

i think you'll see him rebound nicely next season, granted his injury and head butting with carlisle has hurt his contract but likewise i think its also hurt ricks ability to coach dallas
rondo is for sure heading to a different team and carlisle has two toes out the door with a flawed team, dirk near done etc

Mostly injuries I think , some head issues , doesn't want to go into to the paint or play defense with the same vigor , both physical and mental challenges if you ve been hurt.

He physical edge , fast movement .....like ELFORD Payton does now ...is gone ....the fakes , unusual footwork , catlike reflexes ....not so much anymore

Some folks just don't age well.   Some people jog into their 70 's , others all crippled up at 50 .

He seems reluctant to "bring it " .....it maybe he is just not a agile or quick at 30 yrs old,as he was at 21 years of age.....the damage to his leg may have been worse than anybody knew .

what I actually meant was in the playoffs that year he nearly averaged a triple double.

I feel about 80% sure that Rondo is going to have a second act.

Would anyone be at all surprised if he toiled in obscurity for a couple of years and then resurfaced as the leader of one of these young incubating teams like Minnesota or Philadelphia?

I expect 4yr/50mil.  Wouldn't be shocked to see him overpaid and get closer to 4/60.  If he ends up getting paid more than 15mil a year I'll be rather surprised.

I'd be shocked if he got Kyle Lowry type money at this point, even with the cap going up.

The rising cap will impact it.  Rondo can tell teams he's going to sign a 1-year deal in a system that caters to him so that he can build his reputation back up... Then enter free agency a year later when the cap is 20mil higher and everyone has cap space.   That will scare someone with cap space this summer into overpaying him on a 4 year deal... Prob the lakers.

I expect desperation signings from teams like the Knicks, Celtics and lakers who worked hard to free up cap space.  They don't want to wait another year when pretty much every team in the league can compete with them in the free agent market. Gotta get someone this summer when they have the advantage.  Players will either sign 1 year deals and wait... Or get paid.

I think he ends up with a deal closer to 8 million per year, Monta/Mayo sized.

I cant imagine Rondo's value can go down and in fact the lakers could come out big winners here. I dont think its out of the realm of possibility that he signs there for 4 years ~40 million then has a resurgence and ends up allowing them to pursue a few other stars because he is getting paid like a role player.

I also wouldnt be surprised if he signs there for 4 years ~50 mil and continues to be a net negative on his team and ruins the lakers for the foreseeable future

I think his value can definitely go down.  Another average year is more proof that he's just not very good anymore and that the Rondo of 4 years ago is not coming back.  More personality clashes would lower his value also.

im not really sure how he fits in with the lakers either though. Kobe is a ball hog. would he be ok with having Rondo handle the ball 90% of the time.

I know he desperately wants rondo there. but would it really work?
