Thoughts on Avery Bradley?

Defensively AB stepped up after having a suspect game 1. He met the challenge of trying to contain Kyrie. That foul call along the baseline was awful.

While he stepped up defensively, he continues to struggle offensively. I don't think he knows the difference between a good shot and a bad one. A lot of the times off curls (where most of his shot come from) AB has already made up his mind that he's pulling the trigger.

His offensive is one dimensional. He came into the league killing on the backdoor cut and now that he has developed his jumper, the backdoor cuts disappeared. As a SG, you have to be able to make layups through contact... and he struggles to do that.

What are your thoughts on AB's play?

Disappointing. He looks out of place offensively. Honestly, I don't see him on the team at the start of next season.

I thought he struggled offensively in the first two games but he has been good this NBA season and last NBA season. He is a good shooter I'm sure he will get hot again.

His midrange jumpers aren't nearly as open as they usually are for some reason, making it harder on him to put them in. He's really a liability on offense when he's not hitting. I expect a good shooting game from him Thursday. It's not like him to have three horrible shooting games in a row.

On the offensive end I try not to have too many thoughts on Avery , it is too painful ha ha.
Cleveland looks well and truely prepared for his limited game, cut down on his space off curls, cheat right defensively , force him to his left. What is Avery's plan B?

I think he struggles with such a prominent role. If he were to go back to being a third or fourth option where his offense is an added bonus to what he brings defensively then he'll look much better. I'm not sure he'll be here next year.

Celtics: Lakers pick
Lakers: Jrue Holiday, Clippers and 76ers picks
Pelicans: Avery Bradley, Celtics pick
It gives the Celtics a premier pick to add young talent. Gives the Lakers a credible point guard that is still young and improving. It allows the Pelicans to let Tyreke Evans control the ball on offense and play against shooting guards on defense while Bradley would play off the ball as a third option to Evans and Davis while playing defense on point guards.

Irving scored 26, he shot pretty well, what defensive are you talking of?  He has 30 the first game, and he held him down 4 points but you make him sound like he was locking him down.   He got steam rolled again by Irving and AB is struggling on his shot  3-10 game one, and 3-9 game two.

I think AB should be called Houdini, this series because he is vanishing.

He needs a good game bad.  We need to him to do well especially to help the starting unit's scoring which is poor.  I think the Cavs who have some size on him at the guard spot have messed with his shot picture by virtue of their size and got in his head with the Kobe statement.  Sometimes it would be nicer to have a bigger SG who can see over guys.

I thought he played really well on Kyrie and probably would have limited him greatly if not called for 2 or 3 questionable fouls.

On offense, he came out hot, then got in foul trouble came out and cooled off. I think offensively he is always going to be a spot up or a one dribble pull up shooter. If he was on a better team like the Spurs or Hawks he would be a perfect fit, but because we only have one consistent shot creator he struggles to get his own consistent quality shot.

Bradley got whistled for 2 Very Weak fouls tonight.

Did a tremendous job on Kyrie when they werent calling bogus fouls on him.

Offensively hes awful I hope we see the j start to fall in Boston.

I think AB was 3 ticky-tack fouls away from having a dominant defensive game. At the start of the first, he was totally preventing Kyrie from getting into his game. Once he picked up his [early] 2nd and IT came in, that is when Kyrie got on a little bit of a roll.

The Mozgov moving screen that pushed AB into Kyrie on the three (where he made three FTs) and the shot where Kyrie simply fell down after AB's hounding defense were also turning points.

If AB did not have those fouls called on him, I think we would be singing his praise and we would likely be talking about a different outcome.

Offensively he was obviously mostly ineffective, but I did notice some advanced dribble moves that he just did not have last year. Unfortunately he just doesn't know what to do with it after his 'sweet' moves.

I would say having IT would help him with this, but Rondo is a master with the ball and he didn't learn much from him.

Overall, AB is showing why he is a very good player in this league and, even though he's not scoring much, his defensive value (and value as a whole) is being put on display.

Eh, at least two of them weren't fouls at all. I agree that he could have done something to prevent them, but that would have taken away from his aggressive play. When Mozgov stuck out his knee on that screen and Kyrie got three FTs, that kind of said it all to me.
