Remember this article, from the preseason?

http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/70954/breaking-very-bad-in-boston

Yes. I remember it, I have it bookmarked on Google Chrome. The first time I read it, I felt insulted, disrespected. Now when I read it, I just laugh. I'll let you guys have the pleasure of laughing with me, just go to the link.

So thankful that we are fans of the greatest organization in the sports world. So proud of our Celtics. So happy to be ridiculing these ignorant writers.

Let's go Celtics!
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Would a dumb person be able to right-click on "everyday" and easily pinpoint "quotidian" as the most pretentious synonym possible?

...WOULD HE??

In all seriousness I remember the thread on this article and the author seemed like a clueless click-seeking doofus then; time hasn't done his work any favors, that's for sure.

EDIT:  Found the original thread.  Enjoy.  :)  http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=73938.0

Yeah, the guy was some sort of American Media studies professor at a college somewhere, so what he was doing writing a sports column is beyond me. But it was pretty clearly from a biased perspective that only talked about the worst parts of our current situation.

Honestly, I'm more irritated at all those just a week ago saying we had no chance to make the playoffs. Virtually everyone outside of Boston was saying that Miami, Indy, and Brooklyn would all pass us in the standings. Now they can all suck it!

I'm curious how many wins this team would have if the final roster were substantially the same as at the start of the season.

Rondo and Green were just not good fits for Stevens' system, a fact that's even more glaring in retrospect.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

At least a few games over .500, that I'd be willing to bet on now since we could realistically end up 40-42 and something like 25-12 or w/e over the last few months. And that's with me still saying IT only comes at the deadline. If we had him all year? Is 50 wins really out of the question? If CBS had this team all year I think it would be a dead heat for COY.

I remember at the beginning of the year all the smart posters were predicting records based on whether we did or didn't trade Rondo/Green. I don't think anyone predicted 40 wins even with our two best players. EVERYONE, myself included thought after the Rondo trade (Silly me for hating that trade, looks better and better every day. Never doubt Ainge) that we were gonna be a top 5 lottery team. It speaks to just how good Stevens is. The success of this season is an excellent thing for him. His players love him, and if he continues his rise guys are going to want to play for him.

I won't say his name, but a few weeks after the Rondo trade I said I thought Stevens was in the top half of coaches in the league and a regular around here said "He's probably not even a top 30 coach in the NBA" by highlighting his record. Haha. Sarcastic as it was, Looking back now, they're isn't a whole lotta teams that wouldn't trade their coaches for the next few years of Stevens.

I know hindsight is a wonderful thing for everyone. I know many C's fans had doubts that we would still be in playoff contention much into Feb.

It is still great to be here now and, even if you can't say 'I told you so', to be able to say 'we are in the playoffs and its great to support the Celtics'.

This is what ticked me off.....Everyone was so mesmerized by the strength of the West and certain teams In the East that they never saw our potential, missed it completely!!! first of all they never believed that Brad Stevens could accomplish what he did, and he wouldn't have if Ainge hadn't got rid of Rondo and Green.

I want to see the Celtics forget that the Bulls beat the Nets last night and finish this season with nice wins over the Raptors and Bucks!!!

TP.

Every clown (read analyst) on television dismissed the C's and said we had no chance of getting in considering our schedule.

From the original thread:
Man, after a first read I would swear this article was written by someone from this board.

The article isn't depressing....It's just terrible. How does the "pop critic from Slate" who is also a  Media Studies Professor from U of Virginia get to write an ESPN article on the Boston Celtics? And which moron at ESPN said, "Yeaaah! This is the stuff we've been looking for, let's use this guy!"

Sports is part of pop culture.

He writes about basketball occasionally for Slate and other places.  Here, for example, is an article written for The Atlantic which mentions that he is a Celtics fan.  (He grew up in Medford and Lexington).

So, he is a professional writer who sometimes gets paid to write about his favorite sport.

our record would have been significantly worse.

Are we talking about keeping Rondo, Green, et. al or playing the whole season out with Thomas, Zeller, and company?

The funniest thing is check out his Twitter post for April 6th."The Celtics are for real!". Yeah, it was a hate piece written for the sake of getting his name out there. The fact that he does a total 180 speaks a lot.

Eh, if doing a 180 on the team's fortunes made someone a bad fan then this forum is full of bad fans.  He just got his Chicken Little post published by ESPN.
