Congratulations to @Isaiah_Thomas who was named the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week!

Again :) Always nice to see some well deserved recognition for our players. How often does a 6th man win multiple player of the weeks?

When the conference is bad?  How often do 3 sub .500 teams make the playoffs in one conference alone?

Still, props to him and he earned it.  Here's hoping he goes bananas in the playoffs with Marcus Smart

There are still a lot of good players even with a few traditional stars (Anthony, Rose, George, Bosh) limited or injured. Lebron, Irving, Love, Horford, Lowry, Derozen, Horford, Butler, Noah, Lopez, Wall, Wade, Dragic etc all are still in the east and playing. While I admit the elite of the elite in the NBA right now (Curry, Westbrook, Harden and Davis) are in the west there are definitely still a lot of good players competing in the East.

IT should be a candidate for 6th man award. He personifies what a 6th. man should be.

How does a 6th man win multiple player of the weeks?  When he's the team's #1 scoring option. :)

I really enjoy watching IT.  Glad he's on the team.  I agree with Jackie Mac, the team has become much more interesting since he was acquired.

That said, I think my vote for 6MotY would go to Nikola Mirotic.

Isaiah has been great.

IT seems like the clear choice over Mirotic. I realize that he had a couple of rough patches this season, but the 10PPG on 40%FG in 20MPG doesn't seem like quite enough for the award - even though he has had quite an impact lately.

I choose Mirotic because I think he's the best bench guy in the league who plays the sixth man role.  It's not all about scoring points.

IT is the most productive scorer coming off the bench in the league, but he's also the team's number one scoring option.  I just don't really think of him as a true sixth man.

I forgot where the "sixth man role" is defined and what a "true sixth man" is. But more importantly, let's penalize a player for being good, makes sense.

I may be off on this cause I didn't verify, but I thought Mirotic started a number of games when both Gibson and either noah or gasol were out.

IT deserves to be recognised. Hope more Celtics earn more recognition over the next few weeks.

In my mind he's gone from "nice bargain trade deadline pickup" to "terrific trade asset" to "someone we might want to keep for a long time"

Some facts for the statistics crowd:

1. On Boston his per-36 numbers are 27.0/7.4/3.1 at TS 59% with a +7.8 net plus/minus. Who knows whether he could sustain such numbers for an entire season (or at higher minutes), but they are amazing.

2. Here are Thomas' per-36 numbers compared to Lillard and Irving over their first four seasons in the league:

Lillard 19.9/6.0/3.7, TS 56%, 18.6 PER, 0.140 WS48, +5.5 net plus/minus
Irving 21.9/5.9/3.7, TS 56%, 21.0 PER, 0.143 WS48, +3.7 net plus/minus
Thomas 19.9/5.9/3.2, TS 58%, 19.2 PER, 0.139 WS48, +4.3 net plus/minus

And bottom line, he's probably the single biggest reason for the C's going from irrelevant to relevant over the last few months.

Offensively, there is nothing not to like about IT except his height. I think putting him in the Irving and Lillard tier maybe a little generous, but he has been great.

This is from last summer, but the numbers still remain consistent with the message (that Thomas puts up similar stats at a lower cost and thus is a better per-dollar value).

It's totally subjective, just like MVP.  Your definition is as good as mine.  I just don't view IT as a sixth man.

If anything, it's acknowledging that IT is too good to be viewed as a sixth man.  He's the best player on our team.  The sixth man award, in my mind, is supposed to be a recognition of the guy who does the most for his team even though he's not one of the main guys in the starting lineup.

I love IT.  I wish it weren't so difficult to use him in NBA 2K, cause I'd use him all the time.
