I don't understand the Oubre hype.  He was OK this year, but his stats don't jump off the page and in the Kansas games I watched (admittedly not that many) he was pretty invisible.  I get that he projects as a 3-and-D guy in the pros and those are valuable, but in the late lottery shouldn't you want a bit more than that?  And if you're going to spend a lottery pick on a a shooter who's an average athlete by NBA standards, wouldn't you want one that shot better than 36% from the college 3 point line?  I'd be fine with Oubre with the Clippers pick, but I don't think I'd even want him at 15 and he's supposed to get picked before that.

Pillow-soft, absolutely abused and outworked by the Wichita State kids in the NCAA tournament. Ambivalent defender. He needs more work than James Young.

Not interested.

I agree with this. James Young is essentially the same type of player except he is tearing up the D-league right now and working on his defense. I'll take the more complete product in Young than give Oubre a chance to be James Young, if that makes any sense.

Oubre would be a okay pick at 15 but I'd still hope for a good big like Portis, Porzingis, Poeltl, or Turner.

All those can be possible selections but Porzingis, we would have to put together a nice trade package for him on draft day. Which I wouldn't mind he has range and could protect the rim, although he's a bit too skinny for the NBA.

I think Turner would be the safer option, and we could grab Robert Upshaw just for assurance.

Whenever I see Kansas fans posting somewhere on the internet about next year, they always cite Oubre being gone as a positive.  I have never really asked them why, but they all seem to hate him.  I'm fine with whoever Danny thinks is good now that most of my favorites are out of reach.  Hopefully someone falls

My impression of Oubre was similar to that of several other posters: a higher ceiling James Young with much better defense/defensive potential.

If they could pan out to somewhere close to their ceilings, I really like the core of Smart, Young, and Oubre as our 1, 2, and 3 of the future, especially given how well Oubre and Young can shoot the ball.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

It's a very good core I think. Of course they have their flaws which can be easy to improve except for their work ethic. I think James and Kelly share similar weakness that can be improved (fundamentals on d as they sometimes get caught ball watching, handles and consistency on shooting), but their work ethic would be crucial for their development. Smart's work ethic is impressive so it can be contagious for them. I would also like to say that Young has it and he showed in the NCAA that his fearless. Same with Marcus and not sure about Oubre.
