Monroe to the Knicks makes some sense.  They have Carmelo so Monroe could be the second fiddle, not the main man.  I am afraid that second fiddles are going to get lower end max deals so I don't see that as a problem for the Knicks.  I think the problem would be if a team signed Monroe and expected him to be the main man (which would be the case for the Celtics).

There were comments above about Chicago moving on from Rose and maybe wanting a top pick.  Maybe the Knicks can trade for Rose directly.  What a big 3 that would be; Carmelo, Monroe, Rose.

Rose is a big risk due to injury history.  Unlikely he would be traded but who knows.

So just whom do you think Celts could get at center that's better than Monroe? No pipe dreams. Real attainable options.

Marc Gasol, who  will be a free agent and plays well on both ends of the floor. We have the assets and the cap space to get virtually anyone outside of Lebron, Durant, Westbrook, CP3, Blake Griffin, and Anthony Davis.

Also 30 years old, he's due to some underperforming and injury plagued seasons and maybe becoming a negative trade asset moving forward.

I'd go for the young 24 year old even if I honestly prefer Gasol over him.

Monroe is a terrible center, as a max player. I'll pass.

Give me a center that can block some shots and move his feet.

You would think with a front court of Monroe and Drummond that Detroit would be 4 seed in the east. I know they've had there injuries, but Monroe should be dominating have a guy like Drummond next to him.

I say pass on Monroe. Not worth the max.

There's also the problematic of Drummond creating spacing problems for Monroe. In Boston all our bigs have perimeter game.

It doesn't work because they are both C and neither play as well as a PF.

Plus the backcourt play is not that good.

not that good.  ha ha.  It is horrible.  They also had the Josh Smith problem for about half the year.

So even under new management, the Knicks will continue to overpay mediocre free agents and treat them as franchise cornerstones? Great!
the tradition lives on.  ;D

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I'd love to see Greg Monroe in the Triangle offense. Perfect match for team and player.

This is not getting enough attention, I think. And I absolutely agree: I think Monroe is exactly the kind of player Jackson wants, and he's exactly the kind of player Dolan will pay too much to get.

You're dreaming. Marc Gasol isn't leaving Memphis, and if he does it won't be to Boston.

Even if Gasol wants to come to Boston, I don't think Danny will pull the trigger. He's 30, he can't be a cornerstone for us. Gasol is not Duncan, he won't give you another 8 years of great play, specially at the center position.
