I'm somewhat certain players earn a salary bump after winning certain awards, just as they do for making the playoffs (correct me if I'm wrong) so I don't understand this whole starting/coming off the bench issue.

With talent like his, he is guaranteed minutes. It's not as if coming off the bench after the first six minutes of a game is really going to squander away his time to play. Doesn't matter who starts, just matters who finishes.

He should win it, but he also should be starting.  He is by far Boston's best player.  He should be starting along side Smart with Bradley coming off the bench.

I agree with this 100%

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

. Doesn't matter who starts, just matters who finishes.

I don't think that's quite so true when you're talking about the SMotY award.
