Chris Copeland stabbed - Pero Antic and Thebo Sefolosha arrested

Crazy scene in NY late last night/early this morning.  Chris Cooelamd was stabbed at a nightclub (along with two others) while Pero Antic and Thebo Sefolosha were arrested at the scene after the police showed up (for disorderly conduct, but I don't think they're suspects in the stabbing).  The Pacers play the Knicks tonight, while the Hawks play the Nets.

I hate to agree with Skip Bayless, but he's making sense here yet again. NBA players and athletes, along with celebrities, are public figures, and the brighter the star power the more likely it will attract a ton of attention.

I believe this is the case. Copeland and other NBA players attracted attention. There could be a little bit of taunting that turned into a heated argument. With alcohol involved it could go very wrong, and it did.

No one is stopping these guys to have a good time, but they also have to realize that they can attract attention, so why not just have a private party with friends and close acquaintances? Have it on a rented place or something.

Also, Ted Mosby is right, nothing good happens past 2AM.

I'm not sure that's the case this time.  Having read more, the person accused in the stabbing was acquainted with at least one of the victims (not Copeland or his wife, but the third woman).  Not sure what led to things, but it can readily be explained in this situation by more than someone recognizing and NBA player and then acting stupid/aggressive because it's 2am.

They're NBA players who all played several years in Europe.  Yeah, they could be friends.  Tough to imagine, I know.

But depending how the legal system plays out (and it's different for Antic and Sefolosha since they're on work visas), the Hawks could be down some depth in the first round.  So that's good.  Antic particularly can be a frustrating matchup.

Thabo is out for the playoffs with a broken ankle suffered during his arrest according to a RealGM reporter.
