every fan should get behind him, food addiction can be difficult-i mean its not like drugs or alcohol-its pizza ,ice cream ,fried foods and is everywhere,it's not illegal,it doesn't cause blackouts and fighting -it's just food for most of us but not for sully-i ate a whole pizza yesterday a  large bag of m&ms,easter eggs and roast dinner -i'm allways hungry but have never put on weight over 200lbs and i'm 6ft and 67-so all of us critics should lay off the jokes and welcome  and support sully-if the guy could play with that weight handicap imagine what he will be like with weght loss and strength conditioning-i hate bullies and there are many forms-

I don't think anyone should be congratulating him. For someone his age and the amount of exercise involved in being an elite athlete it shouldn't matter what he eats he should be burning it off no problem.

I understand eating junk food is no good for him in the long run but look at Sir Charles, he ate terribly his whole career but when he was young he was very thin. I think his weight is a demonstration of his laziness considering his back problems too. Lamar Odom was called 'the candy man' for a reason with all the crap he ate and still maintained his weight.

He was previously told to shed weight last off season also and still turned up over weight and seemed to put on weight as the season progressed.

I think he could be an all star if he put in as much work as the elite players but his attitude needs to change first or hell end up like big baby

good post rollie, a tp. we all like to sit in front of our computers and talk about sully and weight, but wait! rollie has a point. not everyone loses, gains, maintains weight the same way. for some, it is more than food, making it harder to lose weight. if it were easy for sully, he would be slim today.

so, congrats to sully for overcoming, at least for now, one of his demons. god knows i have some of my own, and when i win out i am pleased.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

A unique challenge of food addiction is that it's not something you can just cut out of your life. You actually need it to survive. Imagine being an alcoholic and having someone tell you to drink every day, but only a reasonable amount.

I find that it's easier for me to not eat at all than it is to eat portions that other people find sufficient.

That being said, it is not an impossible challenge and Sully does have some advantages over the average person with food addictions.

i heard some denial in his early statement but i also heard a call for support and understanding, sully has advantages but he is also in the spotlight of criticism,he talked about those late nights and all the jokes from youth-i have not had a drink in over 30yrs,so i understand some of his difficulties and just because  we buy a ticket or have invested emotionaly in celts -this is a young man and as tough as he plays on the court,he is also sensitive --so god bless you sully

I think it's hard to look at Sully and feel bad for him or give him the benefit of the doubt when many of us (I'm sure...or at least hope) live healthy lifestyles with much, much fewer resources than what he has at his disposal.

I remember watching a clip on Kevin Love years ago in which he described hiring a personal chef and nutritionist as he was looking to lose fat and instead gain more muscle. I don't see why Sully can't so the same thing at his salary. Sully has appeared committed from my perspective but these types of issues hurt his case a little bit.

Weight loss and muscle gain are by no means easy. It's taken a mental and physical toll on me trying to balance the two as someone in his mid twenties but if I had his salary I think it would be just a litttttttle bit easier ;)
Long-form is far from dead, but please refrain from paragraph-laden posts! Who wants to read that?!

I thought it was funny that fans talked about sully's potential to be the next Kevin Love based on the idea he was going to get in shape and drop a bunch of weight. "Just wait until he comes back next season in great shape!"...  There are fat players in this league that stay fat.  It was never a given that Sully would get his act together.

Lamar Odom was called 'the candy man' for a reason with all the crap he ate and still maintained his weight.

In hindsight there may have been a different reason for that nickname.

And yet Fat Sully's production this year has been quite similar to that of Kevin Love, LeBrona's lova, this season.

It seems that potential is often confused for a guaranteed future event that's slated to occur given that enough time has elapsed or the player in question is fed enough playing time.

everybody equates his money as making things easier,it makes it also easier to backslide -i'm young,i'm a star and i'm rich so i'm a little overweight or i eat and i'm big boned blah blah blah--will he become the next carl malone probably not but from where he is coming from the result could be dramatic- i remember years into sobriety walking into a noon  AA meeting across from commons,i was a bit late and i looked around and most people had white shirts were drinking water and had various forms of salad-i been the awhile  and then it hit me wrong day and ths was overeaters anon-by the shares i couldn't tell the difference because it was about feelings-so support groups exist and sometimes it takes another person with the same problem to gain some ones trust-so enough fat sully's and jokes about weight-

I'm pretty sure making a person give up pizza is in violation of the Geneva Conventions.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

I would like to see Sullinger back in the starting lineup.

Bass seems to be going through the motions to me.
