or any combination with young, never seeing him in practice or going against team mates-just d league--i feel he is a luxury and is a great chip that puts a deal over the top---

Here's my fear: We won't get anything near his actual value for him.  Any team that trades for him is going to base their value on what we have seen from him so far, with only a little bit of "potential" value thrown in.  We have the time to sit back and wait.  I'm not so anxious to get rid of a guy who has only had a few months to show us what he's got, and who we knew would be a project from Day One.

way to early to give up on young. it was obvious that he is not nba ready this season, i would prefer keeping him for at least another season.

he was picked 17th -where would he have gone this year, so as a sweetener for a deal favorable to celts he may be the lure to get the deal done- meaning something like a trade up to get a player that we need- maybe he would appeal to philly in a combination trade that gets us a big rim protector-

I hope Danny is active and see if there is a fit. The kid is young and has potential, but if a good offer is there, I hope Danny takes it.

For example, if Orlando is in a position to draft Johnson or Winslow, while having Aaron Gordon and Harris aboard, while at the same time lacking anyone with consistent shooting potential, etc...

If we can trade Young+15 for pick 5-6 (whomever we can snatch there), I am in.

If we can trade Young+15 for Aaron Gordon, I am in.

Not to mention a package for an All Star.

"We do so many defensive drills in practice, I come home and I'm putting the press on my woman, denying her the ball.
Y'all are laughing, but it's sad. I go home and deny the wing."

And what if Young turns out to be the next Ray Allen? Also what part of AAron G play in the NBA has you sold on him?

I think at this point, it would be a sell low trade on Young.

Sure he may bust, but he may develop.  Until he gets some real minutes, unless some team really loves him, I don't see him as a great trade sweetener.

Not ready to give up on Young. He is so young and he's got a scorers mentality. Thats hard to come by

Since our team lacks shooters you want to trade away the youngest and one with the most potential after one year and limited minutes? No...

Keep Young for AT LEAST another season. Hopefully 2.

The kid is still a kid. And it shows. Everyone clamors to take project picks in the draft, but no one actually wants to give them legitimate time to pan out. Young was a steal at 17. He was 18 years old, and full of physical gifts (that might increase over the next year). He already has an elite shot.

Young is a PROJECT. and PROJECTS take time. Trading Young after one season would be tantamount to planting an apple tree and coming back a year later expecting for apples.

Let's hope that the kid has the desire to learn and get better. If he does, he is in the perfect place to become a hell of a basketball player. If he doesn't care (like most 19year olds with millions of dollars) then he could be out of the league in 4 years.

I hope the Celtics have the forethought to keep him until at least 21.
My biases, in order of fervor:
Pro:
Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Kemba, Grant Williams, Sleepy Williams, Edwards!

Anti:
Kanter, Semi, Theis, Poierier

Not sure where he fits

First, trading him isn't giving up on him. You need to get real value back.
Second, not sure where he fits. Seems more of a 2-guard, not a SF, and Celts are strong at guard. If they are sure he can be a full-time 3, then his value is greater.

tp again for thought process-i called him a luxury,a lure for a deal that benefits the celts-
