  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Athletic freak who shoots 36% from three point land. Probably worth a punt considering we are pretty thin at small forward...

The Los Angeles Clippers, Boston Celtics and Utah Jazz are showing interest in the possible call up of Eric Griffin of Texas in the NBA D-League, league sources told RealGM.

Griffin — one of the D-League’s best wing prospects — has averaged 17.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per night in 39 games for the Texas Legends. He joined Dallas’ affiliate after signing an offseason deal to training camp with the Mavericks.

Griffin was a starter in February’s D-League All-Star game, and met with the Clippers during the weekend in New York.

The 6-foot-8 forward played for the Miami Heat in the 2013 preseason, showcasing an elite jumping ability by jumping over the 6-foot-10 Mason Plumlee in an exhibition game.

Out of Campbell in the 2012 NBA Draft, Griffin, 24, has also played professionally in Italy, Venezuela and Puerto Rico.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

We're thin at the 1 and 5, so not sure who you're going to cut for this experiment.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I really liked Adrian Griffin when he was here, so why not Eric Griffin (although it's likely he won't be amazing)?

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Getting more athletic, getting a hungry player who can play above the rim and who understands that opportunities aren't handed to you in the NBA, I'm cool with that. Is Shavlik Randolph still on the team? Cut em.

But...but...JaVale McGee?

He was in an NBA training camp this summer (Dallas, if I'm not mistaken). Why wasn't he unable to find an NBA job? Young, athletic, can shoot, has defensive upside. What's the catch?

There's always a few that are missed. Hassan Whiteside is the hot name but there are other lower profile finds such as Kent Bazemore. Let's hope this guy is one of them.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

Dallas was short on roster spots.  They cut one guaranteed contract coming out of preseason as is -- with guys like Crowder and Jefferson on the bench at the 3, Griffin didn't fit, and his non-guaranteed status made him an easy cut.

I was never a fan of Adrian Griffin.  To me he was Tayshon Prince - with Kelly Olynyk-level athletic ability.

We're thin at the 1 and 5, so not sure who you're going to cut for this experiment.

We're thinner at the 3 and 5, not the one.

PG:Smart,Thomas,Pressy,Turner(when needed)
SG:AB,Thomas,Smart,Turner,Young
SF:Turner,Gigi,Wallace,Jereko(When we go big)
PF:Bass,KO,Jereko,Gigi,Shav
C:Zeller,KO(not a fan of him there, but stretches the floor when needed)Shav

SF and C are out weekest spots.  Tuner is inconsistent, Gigi isn't a starter right now, Wallace is barely a bench player, and Jereko is better at the PF were he can stretch the floor, but is okay if Stevens want to go big.

Getting a nice wing that can get to the hoop, run the floor, block shots, and hit 3's would be nice. He can even play the PF spot if Stevens goes small.

I hope they take a chance on him for the playoffs, kid looks good, some one that would fit in nicely.

Typically, preseason/SL give you enough exposure to catch on with an interested team if you do well.

What about Crowder at SF? I think you might have forgotten him.

Yep, that's a big omission :) Also, can't ignore that Thomas is currently injured for us.
