In 3 moves or less (1 Draft Move, 1 Trade, 1 Free Agent Signing), create your best-case scenario for this offseason.

Context: we make the playoffs as the 8th seed and play Atlanta tough, but we end up losing in game 6 or 7. We end up with picks 15 and 22.

Let's try and keep it semi-realistic, too, i.e. were not signing Lebron, trading for Anthony Davis, or winning the lottery with the Clips pick this year.

Move 1: WCS falls to the mid to late lottery, and we combine our picks and/or players to move up and grab him.

Move 2: Bulls management and Thibodeau finally part ways, and transitioning to a new era the notoriously cheap owner doesn't want to pay Butler the max. We use the Marquette connection, our recent success, and Coach Stevens to sway Butler into asking for a sign and trade to Boston. We trade them Wallace, Sully, Young, and the Brooklyn 2018 pick for a maxed out Butler.

Move 3: We sign Love to a max one-year contract giving him the opportunity to opt out next year and sign a bigger, long-term contract. This would give him the chance to be "the man" on our squad, while also having the pieces around him to help complement him and mask his weaknesses.

This would give us a lineup of:
PG: Smart, IT
SG: Bradley, Turner
SF: Butler, Crowder (resigned)
PF: Love, KO
C: WCS, Zeller

This team has the potentil to be elite defensively, while still having some above-average to elite scorers in Butler and Love. We'd also be incredibly deep with an excellent second-unit. I could see this unit even challenging for the Eastern Conference Final as soon as next year, while still being young enough to be a powerhouse for years to come.

This is my best-case scenario for this offseason in three moves. What's yours?
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
1. Trade for Cousins on draft night
2. Sign Love in free agency
3. I don't need a 3rd step because the first two are crazy enough.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Would take some expert in the cap but assuming the Celts shed all but the lowest salary players and combine the ideas from the first two suggestions:

Assumes to get the players in trade would need to use both of our 1st round picks this year (so no WCS) plus plenty more picks, Bradley, Sully, Young, Turner and Wallace.  Do not re-sign Bass,

12 Man Roster
Guards - Smart/IT/Pressey
Wings - Butler/Crowder/Gigi
PF - Love/Olynyk
C - Cousins/Zeller
Reserves - two low salary 2nd round picks or Summer league player

Banner 18 with a starting (and game finishing) line-up of:
IT/Smart/Butler/Love/Cousins

If we could somehow keep Bradley (or another strong SG) that would be great since IT could play 6th man role

1) Reach the playoffs
2) Meet the cavs
3) Watch Lebron's face after he lost the series.

Most seriously, I'm so pumped up with what's going on with this team right now, that I'm fully living the present time and all my projections and wishes for the end of the season are just gone.
I guess I will start  to think about them after the end of the season... basically banner 18 (sorry again :P )

Sign Monroe
Resign crowder and Gigi
Either Trade up for WCS or sign/ trade for Noel, d green Henson or another mobile defender
Hold rest of cards to acquire 1st option scorer in future

Line up
Smart, IT
Bradley, crowder
Turner, Gigi
Monroe, Oly
WCS/Noel, Zeller
Or Monroe at 5 with either d green or Henson at 4.

IMO Monroe is the best target this offseason. He is a good passer, esp from the high post, efficient in the p&r, runs well and is a legit go to scorer. He is a better outside shooter then given credit for and a better defender then most think. In the post he can d up any big in the game, his perimeter d ain't great but that's why you pair him with a mobile big who can take on stretch 4's.
Given brads success instituting a tough D with out an anchor I don't think Monroe needs to be more than he is on D.

We use our 4 picks in some combination to grab 2 best guys available. We use TPE or simply cap space to absorb a bad 1 year deal for future assets.

Turn Sully on to Jimmy Tango's "Ride the Snake" Fat Busters diet this summer.

Hopefully bring Crowder back for ~3/18

Maybe get a vet min 5 to come in for a few minutes a game and just hack people to death.

Instill the importance of beating the Nets and Mavs to all players. Nobody takes it easy for those 6 games.

Thank Bass for his service and wish him well at his next destination.

I want to win as much as possible next season but at the same time lay low for one more season.

semi-realistic ok. The truth is Boston has never been a landing spot for high profile free agents. We tend to acquire more quality players by trades and draft. I hope this changes.

IMO a center that can defend, detour shots in the paint and block a few shots would be great. I would like to have the C's trade their way up, so they can have a shot at drafting Willie Cauley Stein. I feel WCS and Zeller would plug the hole we have at center. Both are active, Stein is the better defender, Zeller's game is on the rise, scoring and defending.

Cousins is a talent, no doubt about it. The Kings can't afford to dump him yet, I think they will try once again to build around him. You have to give George Karl a chance to get through his thick scull.

Next up: we need a wing that can score and run, Tobias Harris is 22 years old, he's 6-9 he can play both SF and PF. He still has a lot of upside, and has the athletic ability to improve as a defender too. There are other forwards I like too, Greene, Kawhi.

(Getting Love is something I just don't see happening, it would certainly be interesting though)

We need a power forward that can be a defender, suffice to say, he's not presently on our team. He doesn't have to be a big name, someone that can contribute on the boards, defend give some low post energy. So you guessed it, I'm counting on Sully to come to camp healthy and looking like a professional basketball player. An in shape Sully will score down low, rebound, pass, and be able to play more quality minutes.

TP!
It's nice seeing him get exposed as overrated after having argued with fellow fans for years that he was overrated.. but I don't hate him. I'm looking forward to seeing him [...] bounce around to a couple more teams... eventually come back to Boston[...] and helps us as a role player until he runs himself out of the league.

1. Celtics pull a reversal  on Atlanta years ago but the Celtics win  the final deciding game of the series.

2. The Heat upset whoever they play in first round, the Celtics beat them. Wade gets hurt with a gruesome injury and has to retire (the game is at the Garden, so they cheer when he's carted off).

3. They play the Cavs, beat LeBron and Love in the East Finals. After the series Love's lack of defense is questioned and Lebron's lack of heart is questioned. LeBron says he needs a 4th and 5th superstar next year or he's leaving.

Thew current sitauation really shows how expendable Sullinger is .. If DA could package him and even KO with a number of draft picks for a Durant or Boogie that would be amazing ..

I'd love that, but I'm not sure many other teams would give us much of value for him.  From your lips...

A month ago, I would have said that we had no chance of getting a top-tier superstar because Boston isn't the most desirable place to play.  But after watching the off-season money-grab in the NFL, I'm not so sure anymore.  Let's just hope that none of the FAs noticed the nine feet of snow we had this winter. ;)

1. Trade our picks, draft Stanley Johnson.

2. Trade Bradly, Olynyk, Wallace, and future protected picks in a sign and trade to a cap space strapped Bulls for Butler.

2B: If Butler doesnt work, make a similar trade for DeAndre Jordan.

3. Overpay for Tobias Harris.

Yes--I do think a Draft Night Trade like this, is important---to let every Free Agent know, we mean business.
