Why?  Statistically he's worse this season than last.  Nice role player. Definitely not a leader.

His contract makes him a likely piece in a trade package if we target a star.  Especially if we intend on starting Baby Napoleon at some point.  You can't play him and Bradley at the same time. Way too small.  Perhaps you can start Lil Dinklage and Smart together, because Smart has size to cover larger guards.  That makes Bradley the most likely trade candidate this summer of the three players.

If I have to choose, I'd rather have captain Bass. He is a real pro and always does things he excels. He's actually improved this year regarding his increasing no. of plays under the basket, most notably his two-handed dunks. He is a good veteran presence and I believe he would've been a better role model to the team comparing to Bradley.

But I think nobody is worthy of the captain at the moment, and that's probably a good thing. Being a captain may put too much of a pressure on a young player if someone like Avery/Thomas is chosen to be one. It may also disrupt team chemistry if that captain doesn't have enough influence to the team and respect from his teammates. We have no guys that are KGs and PPs right now. I can see Smart becoming one in the future with regards to his strong personality. But right now, no one should be a captain IMO and I don't think we need one this/next season unless someone really breaks out as a convincing leader.

CBS doesn't do captains so the answer is, nobody will be! He was forced to name RR captain. If I had to choose, it would also be Bass. If it was one of the young guys then I would go with IT because AB said he looks up to IT and has done it since they were kids. AB does deserve it as much as anyone else though, despite what people think of him. He works hard and he plays the right way, even during an off night. They all like him and speak highly of him. He's still only 24 (bday Nov 26).

You don't have to be a star play to be a captain. Not all star players are capable of it either.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Wallace to old and won't be around
Smart too young
Crowder might not be here

no.  captain should be the clear team leader.  that's not AB.  I don't see anyone on the roster that fits that description.  Smart may be that player some day

Here is the problem, if we name Avery Captain now, what do we do in the offseason or whenever, when we land a real star? I mean if KD or whoever comes here, we make them the captain right? So then do we take it away from AB? Thats a real dick move. But does a star want to be co-captains? thats also pretty stupid.

Hopefully we get Paul back for at least one more season and let him be captain again.

Remember when Pitino made Pervis Ellison a co captain? Thats when you know you suck.

Somewhere in the archives is a discussion on choice of a Captain.  Not sure, but I  think the Captain may be chosen by the players, not appointed by the Coach.

According to the always reliable wikipedia, Bradley is already captain, along with KO:

I voted next season, but this is figuring the Cs keep up their play and either make or just miss the playoffs.

Being named Captain has about as much validity as Wiki...either or both co-Captains may still be gone by next season.  Just as easily changed as Wikipedia facts.
