I have been praising Phil Pressey since they day he joined this team.  He's the perfect example of a guy who leaves everything on the court and makes the absolute most of every ounce of talent he has.

People give him a lot of hate, and I really don't know why.  Pressey is actually a very skilled player - he's pretty much a bite sized Rajon Rondo in that he does everything pretty well except score.  he's an excellent passer, great playmaker, fantastic court vision, great ball handler and is an absolute hound on defence thanks to his great motor and blinding speed/quickness.    He's even a half decent rebounder for a PG.

Pressey doesn't do much on to add to a box score, but I swear EVERY TIME that kid steps on the floor, good things happen.

If Pressey could shoot and finish around the basket with any kind of consistency (or if he was 3" taller) he'd be a very, very good player.

Plus he's got such a great attitude - always positive, modest and hard working and he's always got a "team first" mentality.

Love this kid, and I'd be genuinely sad if he ever got traded or waived. Not often you say that about end of bench guys.

Pressey has really improved his game if you look at the details. He used to miss shots left and right In the past. These past few games he is making alot of tough shots. Highlights vs the Magic

Kudos to Pressey for stepping up like he has. We've needed him.

And while he's not IT, he's a serviceable facsimile. Mark Murphy explains:

Quote
Thomas? understudy

In the three games since he?s replaced the injured Isaiah Thomas off the bench, Phil Pressey has attacked the rim with Thomas? assuredness. That?s not just because Pressey has been studying Thomas, according to Stevens.

?Our second unit, just like with Isaiah, has so much skill on it that you can?t over-help,? Stevens said. ?There?s more openings. It?s not a revelation for Phil. It?s more the spacing of the other guys around him. But Phil?s been great. He?s played a great three games and we wouldn?t be in this situation without him. He?s been a third-string guy, and we can throw him in there and never miss a beat.?

Besides, Pressey has been watching Thomas for quite some time.

?Before he got here, he?s one of the guys who (assistant coach) Kwame (Graves) had me watch,? said Pressey, who had seven points and four assists last night. ?Just having him on the team makes it easier for myself as well.?

To summarize:

1. Pressey has been studying Thomas for a while now, even before IT came here.
2. The depth of the second unit now allows spacing of the floor so Pressey/IT can be more effective, especially on the dribble-drive.

Great stuff.
