We have cap space and 5 first round picks in the next two drafts.

Our future is bright.

Barring catastrophic injuries or Ainge pulling a Philly with blow 'em trades, I don't see how this is the pinnacle or things won't get better than this.

This team is on the upward trend.  Sure looking like a team that is poised to win more games in '15-16 than this season.  Add on upcoming cap space and a boatload of draft picks that can be utilized in multiple ways, its tough to see a situation where things won't get better than this.

Gotta love the positivity in Boston  ;)

I'm lovin' how every single post in this thread goes against the OP's post.

You're thinking too short-term OP.  Eventually, all of our players will be dead.

.....and the earth will be burned to a cinder, and the Sun will burn out and die.

...And only Keith Richards will survive.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

I now feel like I was taking this mediocre team for granted. Thanks OP for opening my eyes.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Except it could get better.

- Who knows how how good Marcus Smart will be next year, now that they can see what needs to be worked on.

- Isaiah Thomas, if we keep him would be good even if he doesn't take a step forward. What if he does?

- Draft picks, young players and a GM who can make great moves.

That's among other things. I refuse to believe that it can't get better.

The C's are doing well of late.  Winning games or competing well against top rated teams (except for the latest Cleveland loss).  Well, what does it mean?  Are the Celtics nearly as good as the top teams in the League?  In a way it's true because that's what the scores indicate.  On the other hand it seems many of these victories have come at a time when the other teams were either hobbled by injuries or just slumping (like Memphis and Atlanta).

Taking this a step further this means that top teams are susceptible to injuries or team weary slumps.  And, that if you catch them in the midst of their problems its possible to beat them with lesser talent.

What could that possibly mean for the Celtics future?  What if they get the pieces they need to compete for the NBA Championship like a star center or ace shooter.

Judging from other successful teams it appears winning more games is one instant benefit.  However, they are still susceptible to the injury curse or some sort of non-defined playing funk... possibly do to weariness or unreported injuries.

So, I guess what I am saying is that even if the Celtics get better players next year they may not end up playing much better than they are now if they are hit by a major injury bug or some sort of slump.  So, enjoy what we have now because you never know what the future holds.

Sick of this gloom and doom BS. Cs have the best combination of ownership, GM, HC, picks, and cap in the NBA, and a nice core of young players too.
