The C's are doing well of late.  Winning games or competing well against top rated teams (except for the latest Cleveland loss).  Well, what does it mean?  Are the Celtics nearly as good as the top teams in the League?  In a way it's true because that's what the scores indicate.  On the other hand it seems many of these victories have come at a time when the other teams were either hobbled by injuries or just slumping (like Memphis and Atlanta).

Taking this a step further this means that top teams are susceptible to injuries or team weary slumps.  And, that if you catch them in the midst of their problems its possible to beat them with lesser talent.

What could that possibly mean for the Celtics future?  What if they get the pieces they need to compete for the NBA Championship like a star center or ace shooter.

Judging from other successful teams it appears winning more games is one instant benefit.  However, they are still susceptible to the injury curse or some sort of non-defined playing funk... possibly do to weariness or unreported injuries.

So, I guess what I am saying is that even if the Celtics get better players next year they may not end up playing much better than they are now if they are hit by a major injury bug or some sort of slump.  So, enjoy what we have now because you never know what the future holds.

Thanks Debbie Downer.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

This could have been worded so much more optimistically...

Is this how you watch Celtics games?

We got off to a bad start this year.  Even if we play 75% of what we have been doing recently we will still have a better record next year at this time.

You're thinking too short-term OP.  Eventually, all of our players will be dead.

And it's a safe bet a good portion of the roster will be eternally [dang]ed. That's gonna bite.

Edit: Ha. That's the second time I've not realized that word is a no no.

On the bright side, when all is said and done and the Sun and Earth are no more, Celtics will still have the most Championships! That is my prediction.

As for this season - yes, enjoy it.

So I guess it's... no outward signs of happiness allowed.

Honestly I'm not sure how we aren't trending upwards.

There is a standard development curve in the NBA, players that stick in the NBA tend to get better as they get older, and our team is very young.

The top teams that are most susceptible to injuries are the ones who have superstars and no depth around those guys. We are a team whose depth is its biggest strength so injuries are less of a problem for us than say a team like the Heat. With a lot of draft picks and cap space I think we will only improve our talent base while keeping relatively similar depth.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

we will get a top ten pick because indiana miami and charlotte are better even now that all three of them have major injuries... we just made a step forward.. and i am happy about that

Gotta love the positivity in Boston  ;)

But seriously, it'll be nearly impossible for the Celtics to be worse next year or the year after. The reasons being:

1) They have a young roster with more players expected to improve than decline.

2) They have a deep roster with no current all-star players. This means that pretty much any injury/player loss won't really affect them that much.

3) The Celtics will have a decent/average draft pick and cap space. They should be able to at least get a decent free agent.
