This is really beyond my wildest expectations this year.  I wanted a 10 game increase total from last year to pitch players over the summer.  We are witnessing Danny Ainge's spiel to free agents right now!  He is going to say what our record was once we obtained IT and that is the caliber team a player could be joining.  This is important for FA and RFA's, do you want to join these celtics or the Knicks or lakers?  This run right now I am enjoying in the present but can see possible benefits for this off season too.

Pitch over the summer?  I thought he was a 3rd baseman.   ;)

I think that anybody who is a free agent this year and is/could be a superstar will sign a one-year contract and wait for the salary cap jump in 2016.  I hate to say it, but I think a lot of Ainge's pitch is going to be, "Here's your max contract.  Sign here, initial here, here and here."

I understand why players would go for the one-year deals this offseason, but I hope Ainge stays away from that type of deal—I want him to get guys for the long haul.

Winning is nice..but it's not everything to a lot of players. Look at Melo and Revis. Money and location are reasons guys join teams. Winning is for older past their prime players who've made their money, won their awards and are in ray allen chase rings mode.

Really more of a utility guy, actually: 89 games at 2B, 80 games at 3B, 60+ combined games in the outfield.

Exactly.  Meant to say that I would wait until 2016. :)
