"Man, they don't quit," Conley said. "They're a team that fights. They're going to play through every possession."

One of the best comments from an opposing player about the Celts this season.

Opposing bigs productions seems down without Sully.  Hopefully, management sees this and keep the pressure on him to undoughboy or unload him.

We kept Gasol in check last night.

You didn't notice Bass much last night, but you also didn't notice Gasol and Randolph dominating.  BB quietly had a real nice game - though limiting those 2 guys had to be a team effort.

I was watching the Memphis feed and at the beginning the announcers were saying the same thing. The announcers were saying something like "It's known that they play hard and you have to match their energy"...that's really good to hear and a testament to the job that BS is doing.

When you have a core group of players that defend like Smart, Bradley, and Crowder, it gets catchy. All of a sudden mediocre defenders/players are playing with attitude and energy. The next thing you know... you have a team.

It has to be that...this team is not an exceptionally talented, or an experienced group.

Most of the players also do play a bigger role compared to their previous Situation or what they would expect.

Thomas -> becomes #1 scoring otpion & closer
Bradley -> increased offense usage
Smart -> Starter
Turner -> Starter
Crowder -> more Minutes
Jerebko -> more Minutes
Bass -> Starter
Zeller -> Starter

If your coach trusts you to play a bigger role but expects you to hustle hard, your gonna hustle hard and try to take the opportonity. You see the output if everyone does.

"Great defense," Pacers coach Frank Vogel said, crediting Boston. "We tried to show our guys a lot of video of it this morning of how good they are with their ball pressure.

Danny has found a group of guys that appreciate playing time and not sitting on the bench wasting away .   Like Kevin Love. .....LeBron is coach ..calling the shots ..I suspect LeBron has ALOT to do with who is out on the court .....not the coach.

I think Bass, Zeller, Olynyk, Crowder, and Jerebko have all played great defense as a unit on a number of tough low post opponents and really bothered them.   I'm not sure if it is the way we are double teaming since the Memphis game or what but it really has managed to throw all those other players off.  I'd love to see some analysis.

On offense we make all those guys work too.  I've loved seeing bigs, Gasol and Vucevic for example, start out not playing Olynyk out to the three but by later in the game they are out there guarding him at three.  It's a big deal for the offense.

All that adds up and it becomes tough for opponents because everyone is really involved and they can all hurt you.  Like how we had 16 assists on 16 baskets early in the game last night.

Yeah I'd expect love to leave because of Lebron.  Watched last cavs game.  Coach subbed in moztgov on free throw for rebounding.  He went to lower block to take position against opposing big.  Lebron waived him off twice.  Poor Tim didn't know what to do.  Announcers even commented on it.  It didn't work out for the "king". And the cavs got lucky on play as Lebron didn't/couldn't box guy out

Wow, the young Celtics have an identity. Be carful about the parts you add to this team, that may not fit in to this little identity.
What's interesting is 4 of the 5 opening night starters are either no longer here, or not starting. We pick up Crowder, a tough, and willing defender to go along with out two young pitbulls Smart and Bradley, and bang, we have a ball pressure handle.

We find an impact scorer (IT) of the bench and we're looking at the playoffs. Honestly...if this keeps up, free agents will be looking at the Celtics as a possible destination.

That's really nice to hear about our team.

I've always loved Conley, he's extremely underrated. Would love to see him leading the charge on this Celtics squad.

Pipe dream: sign Gasol and swing a trade for his buddy Conley.

George Hill on Celtics

They play hard. Coach Stevens got them in a great defensive plan. They play extremely hard and they make it tough for us on the offensive end. We did a good job of fighting back, it just wasn’t enough.

They just took us out of some stuff. They’re a difficult team to defend. They spread guys all over the floor. It was just a tough game for us. We couldn’t get a good rhythm or flow. We cut the game close a couple times. We weren’t able to execute well enough to get a win.
