Stevens COY consideration?

If we make the playoffs, he has to get some consideration for this award, doesn't he? Vogel is getting recognition and consideration for what he's done minus Paul George, but in my opinion Stevens has done just as much with much, much less.

Think about it. We've lost our three best players (Rondo, Green, Sully) to either trade or injury, and yet Stevens still has us playing at a high level. Granted, Vogel lost a star much greater than those three, but he hasn't dealt with nearly as much loss, controversy, transition, or change as Stevens.

He won't get it, but I definitely believe he deserves some consideration for it if we make the playoffs. Yes, the East is weak, but we've beaten quite a few of the top teams in the league and challenged many more.

If he gets us to the playoffs, he deserves some recognition but would still be far below Budenholzer and Kerr. I also think McHale has done a surprisingly good job this year

Hard to win coach of the year with a record below .500, but he is certainly becoming known as one of the up and coming coaches. They were talking about him on NBATV this evening towards the end of the game saying the Cs got the cream of the crop of the new coaches.

Maybe not this year, but if we can get some talent, he should be able to perform well.

Kerr has taken a good team and made them a true contender without an influx of talent, and that is one of the hardest things to do in the NBA. I love what CBS has done and am excited for his future, but, imo, it is easier to make a bad team competitive than than do what Kerr has done.

I agree on the role of talent though because IT is probably the only person on our team who cracks the Warriors rotation, and even he wouldn't get much time

If we make the playoffs he definitely deserves and will get some praise, but he won't finish top 3 in the COY, might still not even get a vote.

I think he's a top 5 coach. But Kerr's coaching makes not acquiring Kevin Love look genius...

He's turned Draymond Green into a borderline max candidate, Harrison Barnes into an NBA player and Steph Curry into a deserving MVP Candidate...

To me Kerr and Bud are on another level.

Much like if you have one guy on a 40 win team, and one guy on a 60 win team putting up identical stats, both MVP worthy, and even if maybe the 40 win team is at a bit less talented outside of the main guy, the 60 win team guy wins the MVP.

If the Celtics grab a playoff spot, I don't know if he'll be officially considered to win, but he'll definitely be an honorable mention on a lot of lists.  If the Celtics can somehow grab a playoff spot plus go on a  few solid winning streaks to go 14-5 in the final 19 games of the season and magically get back to .500, THEN I think he gets some legit consideration.  But at the end of the day, I agree with the majority thought process that it'll most likely be Kerr or Budenholzer.

With the way this team is playing though, if they can stay healthy the rest of the way, and with a little bit of luck on their side, if you look at it in terms of trying to go 7-2 and then 7-3...it really doesn't sound all that unreasonable right now.
