Its obvious that we need a rim protector. But if I try to get into the minds of Danny and Brad, it's going to be hard to find a big man in this draft that fits this pace&space system. It seems that the ideal big man for Brad would be the following:
  • Good Pick'n'Roll Defense
  • Rim Protection
  • A decent handle and a threat with the midrange game (if only Olynyk had the first two  :-\ )

If you look at the top 5 projected bigs in the draft, here's how I would rank them based on FIT.
  • Karl-Anthony Towns: Very good defender. Mobile enough. Showing versatile offensive skillset and actually makes freethrows. Needs to improve handle
  • Jahlil Okafor: Great offensive player, but no midrange. Mobile enough. Awful defender and somehow only making 50% freethrows
  • Willie Cauley-Stein: Super athlete. Awesome PnR defender and Rim Protector. No offensive game outside dunks
  • Kristaps Porzingis: Good, fluid athlete. Decent PnR defender and Rim Protector. Extremely skinny and very raw on offense, though has a beautiful shooting stroke
  • Myles Turner: Good rim protector. Decent shooter. No handle. Shaky PnR defense and very awkward athlete (look up how he runs)

That being said, if the first 4 on my list are gone, I'm taking best player available. Myles is just too awkward.

I was thinking about it the other day from Spurs perspective.

Splitter is useless outside of the paint, Duncan is no longer a good midrange shooter, does not shoot often from there and does not attempt 3p. Both are however very good passers.

So it might be more important for the offense to have a good passer at the 5 than a midrange thread.

Of the bigs in the list Okafor and KAT are very good passers but way out of our draft range. Porzingis as per Draftexpress has a bit of a tunnel vision.

I have no idea about WCS. If he can move the ball confidently on O, set good screens and roll hard, it should be enough.
"We do so many defensive drills in practice, I come home and I'm putting the press on my woman, denying her the ball.
Y'all are laughing, but it's sad. I go home and deny the wing."

I disagree about Duncan - I think his midrange jumper has been solid this year.
Also, the way the Spurs use Boris Diaw is why I think there needs to be a big with good handle.

I like the idea of WCS and Olynyk playing together and the idea of Turner and Sully playing together. They need to decide who the starting PF is if they are gonna draft a center to play next to him.

Also, Turner is 19, just grew a TON and has not grew into his body yet. The kid was wearing the wrong sized shoes for half the season... I'm less worried than most about him.

Check out this story for more info on Turner. I won't be upset at all if we draft him.

Turner seems too "nice" and kind of soft like Roy Hibbert. I don't see this kid having the killer instinct we would want in the paint...If he's available late lottery you take him but i for one wouldn't be that ecstatic to have him on the team. Karl Anthony who I know won't be available when we pick is more of a nice kid off the court, but killer on type of player...Turner doesn't excite me that much.

I don't think he's ever gonna be a monster in the paint. He's gonna score from outside. He would need a PF who's gonna bang down low to complement him. Roy Hibbert is a year removed from making the All-Star team and finishing second in voting for DPOY. Hardly soft.

If KO returns to what we were expecting of him from the end of last season and the beginning of this season, I would love a KO/WCS frontcourt pairing, especially with KO's passing, BBIQ, and the ability to stretch the floor.

And I still think WCS can develop a mid-range jumper, because he's shown flashes of it this season. If he works hard and develops it, that could be a nasty duo. The only thing to possibly worry about is the fact that neither of them are outstanding rebounders for their size.

We'd have two 7 footers in the paint again!

The fact that their comparisons are Dirk lite and Chandler lite make it even more intriguing. Yes please. hahahaha  :P
