I remember the old days where you could actually buy a pick.. without any other compensation. Only money.. i think there are some teams who actually wlould give up their pick only for money.. gsw nets cavs memphis.. they need cap space more.. it would be nice to get 1 or 2 more.. would help to move up

If I remember correctly we bought a late first from Phoenix that we used to pick Rondo. I think they also sold the pick the ended up being Deng.

From my limited understanding of the ramifications of the current CBA, rookie contracts have become more valuable.  If you get a rotation guy for only a few mil that is great. If he becomes a star and you can look them up on their 1st max deal that is so much better than their 2nd or 3rd max deal.

While this sucks in that we are probably less likely to buy a pick now, it is great because picks are worth more and wev got the m in spades. Its really better that teams are not selling them because that devalues our picks.

We took on Brian Grant's salary and traded them a future #1, I believe (the Cleveland pick we had gotten for trading Jiri Welsch).

I agree with you that it's pretty unlikely that we buy a pick.  We've probably got too many draft picks to begin with to use all of them.

U can still buy picks for only money compensation

But it is most likely a mid or late second rounder

Bill Walker selection was a purchase I believe.

I remember when Philly bought the rights to Korver. Was ticked. Really wanted him to be a Celtic in that draft - it was just such a lock that he'd be good.

Think in his rookie year he made a three to force 3OT in a game against the Celts down in Philly.
