i think with melo he was talking about how we needed a C and fab would get a lot of playing time with us because we didnt have a C
but rivers hates playing rookies unless they prove their worth, so he didnt get much playing time
plus overall melo was a terrible player

with sullinger it was kind of understandable to hate on him cuz of his weight issues and medical red flag
but then again he was considered a top 10 pick in a strong draft so obviously the talent was there

Look - Melo was and is a clown. He was a terrible pick. Sully has issues - that's why he was picked 21 and not top 10. Hindsight is 20/20 but even at the time, people were calling Sully the steal of the draft and Melo at very shaky pick

It is OK to be wrong, but this guy talks as though he has ALL the answers and was dumb enough to call our worst pick great and a very good to great pick - the WORST pick of that draft....

He is a tool. Enjoy...

I was a Fab Melo fan, right up until we traded him. Thought it could work.

I don't see his comments being all that bad -- wrong, but not that bad .  He also lacked some of his trademark anger/arrogance.  He complimented Sully's skills and IQ just didn't think his lack of athleticism would transfer to the NBA.  At least he seemed to know something about Sully's actual game -- just a bad prediction.

He also just said Fab was a "great pick" not necessarily a great player or a sure thing. He was clear to say that Boston (if KG is back) would be the perfect place for him to learn.  Sounds like he was saying that Fab was raw and that Boston was taking a smart risk at that place in the draft.

BTW, he was also wrong about Miles Plumlee who, at pick 26, was at least an OK pick.

I bet he is not welcome back in Syracuse after that investigation, not that his stats there were that good.

Why pick on Fab Melo for that? The investigation started well before anyone knew his name.

Many times talking heads simply have nothing to offer, but the problem is, that is what the do for a living. So they talk when they really have nothing. Steven A. is a prime example.

We most likely have several members on this site that can offer more than this guy.

Fab signed with Club Athletico Paulistano in Brazil for the 2014-2015 season.  I was trying to find his stats, to no avail.  Can anyone see what he did this year thus far?

Thanks,

While I agree SAS says things to rile up controversy and get views this wasn't one of them. Yes he was wrong, Sully has played fairly well in the NBA, but what he said doesn't make him outrageous. He said Sully knew the game but didn't have the athleticism to make it in the NBA, completely understandable. It's an opinion.

As for Fab Melo, I don't think anyone knew how incompetent he was at basketball, playing in a zone in college really hid his deficiencies.

Sully was drafted AFTER:
Dion Waiters
Thomas Robinson
Austin Rivers
Meyers Leonard
Jeremy Lamb
Kendall Marshall
Mo Harkless
Royce White
Andrew Nicholson

Who are ALL worse than Sully, to the point that at least half of them will be out of the NBA in the next 3-5 years.

The only player who is better than Sully and was drafted after him is Draymond Green.

That makes picking Sully a BRILLIANT Pick

Paulistano lists him as former player. I don“t know where is playing right now.

I agree.  Funniest thing about this post, is the OP just realizing what many have already known?
