I don't find any comfort with him when he says things like "oh, I've done it before...I can do it again".

What turned me off about his statements was him saying something to the effect of "it stinks now though, because I can only use the bike" as in he can't begin his weight loos journey right now because of his inability to run.  Nutrition is 9/10s of weight loss. Someone can be marginally active, eat a clean diet and still shed weight.  I feel like he's using his foot as an excuse already, which doesn't bode well for his future health goals in my eyes.

But like you guys said his career and livelihood are def going to be a motivating factor.  And I cant act like he hasn't made an improvement to his body this summer, he did.

Honestly, I couldn't care less. As "fat" as he is, he's a player I wanted on my team. So whether he reaches his goal of losing the weight or not is of no real concern to me.

I can hope, so that we can see a potentially superior Sullinger, but his weight really holds little weight (pun intended) in my desire to keep him around.

We'll see how much his market price is after next season, that will be the determining factor regardless, and how we are setup when the time comes.

Of course, if an attractive trade comes along then so be it.

But I'm really not overly concerned by this. It will not make or break this team in any form.

If ....he could only believe what guys 35 and older could tell him.......losing wright at his age is easy , your body is still working hard.

Young guys can't comprehend how your body changes and keeping the weight  off is so hard ......

Doing the work now ...will help him understand 10-15 yrs from now maintaining when it's no longer easy to stay trim.

Another notable part of the interview is where he said, "It's going to be hard because I can just ride a stationary bike".

Same old Sullinger. I hope doesn't get paid here.
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

Ainge on Sully's conditioning:

Ainge on Sullinger: All of our players have met conditioning, body fat, etc. goals set by trainers, and Jared has not met them.

Ainge says he has addressed conditioning issues with Sullinger "many, many times."

Ainge was just on Touched and Rich and was asked about Sullinger's comments from yesterday. He basically slammed Sullinger and his work ethic (in Ainge's mild manner of course). He said Sullinger was basically the only person on the team who failed his to reach his strength/conditioning goals and that they have spoken to Sully many times about his weight and conditioning and nothing has changed. Ainge said all the tools are available to Jared to change this should he choose to show the commitment.

Edit: Sed522002 beat me to it .

Didn't Sully say last offseason that he would lose 25-30 lbs? Wasn't he working out with that trainer girl from TV? (I forget her name- she was blonde.) Didn't he say last year how he "would've lost weight but couldn't exercise because of his back?"

Call me a skeptic, but history is not in Sully's corner right now.

interesting. If sullinger doesnt get a better work ethic in regards to his weight, I think he is gone. a player his size with his injury history wont last long in the NBA.

if he had a Kevin love like transformation, maybe he could.

I feel bad for him, but I just can not understand what he is thinking when he said he would not hire a nutritionist.

I wouldn't be concerned IF it didn't affect his time on the court and that goes for stamina and injuries. When a GM calls you out on it, there is definitely a problem. If it wasn't about his health and ability to stay on the court, I doubt Ainge would care much either.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

What's sad is the celtics already have one (a chef too I think) that they are free to use any time.

Sully is powerful ...due to his bulk ......

He looks soft and weak for a man his size.

I bet IT can out bench him.

Someone mention a lifestyle change ......I don't think JS understands this concept ......this requires a mature person .....to be honest with your situation.   He seems still stuck in high school mind set .

Giving up pizza, chips , soda , and beer .....getting rest .....going to gym in the off season .....this takes commitment .

There is tons of gym work he can do while ....as his foot heals ......Sully is really soft looking ...all over

Weight training can reshape him , lose weight and eat correct ......he'll be ready for cardio for his foot this spring.

He is too used to .... Just part time dieting ......this doesn 't work as you age .....he needs anew routine schedule

He needs a lifestyle change

I would like to say Smart, and Bass are probably the strongest on the Celtics. If I have to guess, Smart could probably out bench anyone on the Celtics

This is troubling.  Why would you throw a big contract extension at him again?  Injury prone & admittedly out of shape?

When he's healthy & on the court,  he can be quite the player.  The problem is that those moments seem to be few & far between and the idea of shutting him down for the season seems to play on a loop year after year.

Those are called red flags.
