I loved Gordon in the draft, but I am happy now that we ended up with Smart.
I'd definitely be interested, especially with Sully being the question mark he is, but I think it'd take a little more than I'm willing to pay at this point. I would probably go with a pick like our '16 or any lower ones/combination of lower ones and/or Sully.
The ability to switch would be crazy. And the shooting... subpar.
I preferred Smart at the time of the draft and now I would rather have Gordon. I like Who's better version of Draymond Green comparison. Sounds about right to me.
I thought Smart was more explosive. Hopefully the ankle has a little bit to do with his lack of explosion.
Maybe I didn't read that correctly. Did you suggest Smart is more explosive than Gordon?
Gordon's entire game revolves around his freak athletic ability. They literally had to move the bar up when he did the vertical test - 39" on a big man like that is unheard of. To compare, Blake Griffin was only like 36". The dude can jump out of the gym and run the floor with the best of 'em.
I wanted Gordon before the draft. I'd rather have Gordon now. I love Smart's hard nose, do-everything game. He's an easy guy to root for. There's not a game I watched where he didn't bring a smile to my face by doing something that disrupted the hell out of the opposing team. I'd like to see him in Green for the next 10 years. But I simply think Gordon has better upside on the offensive end and plays his own brand of outstanding defense with his 7 foot wingspan. He's also the bigger guy and when everything is equal I think you go with the bigger man.
Of course, he could turn out to be an injury bust or just an average player. Smart may turn out to be an All-Star. So I could easily be wrong and that's just my opinion.
