Trade James Young now the hype is still there?

Don't understand me wrong, I was happy with drafting James Young at 17th. I understand the kid is extremely young, still has to turn 20. And although his PHX game was one of his best I have watched him closely over the last month. Some observations:
- He falls asleep on defense way too often, besides that his D is already a complete mess, even other rookes ran by him like he is not even on the court.
- His offense is alright although I haven't seen too much, of course because of the minutes. His FT shooting is worse than I expected, goes 1 for 2 way too often.
- He shows NO emotion. When AB hits a buzzerbeater against the Laker he still doesn't show emotions... Often when the whole bench is running and jumping around he is still shows no emotion.
- He has not getten better over the course of the season, although this point is maybe not fair.

The careless defense and the no emotions makes me believe he doesn't really care. While a 19 year old kid should be so excited to play in the NBA, to become a better player and to become a fan favourite. Young shows nothing of this.

Well he can still be a solid starter and maybe even an all star I doubt if the determination and work ethic is there.
A whole lot of people still believe he is part of the future, I think GMs still think about him as an interesting asset... Could we use him at draft day to move up 5-10 spots?

What do you guys think of his attitude and performances? It's just the complete otherside than we have seen from Marcus Smart.

Exactly. And more: can we wait the end of the season for talk about trades? This is so childish. Let's just watch our team. The offseason - or until the trade deadline - is the moment for talking about trades.

Some kids here will die if they can't play of tradeism all day long.

Melo could be 7-feet tall.  Aren't there a lot of posters complaining about a lack of 7-footers on the roster?

And I was just starting to get excited about a backcourt in 2 years that features IT, AB, MS and James Young -- with Young splitting his time between the 2 and 3.  This backcourt in its potential configurations can play offense, defense, big, small, quick... -- incredible potential when it comes to versatility.   

I wouldn't trade Young -- he's one of the very few players we have with some star potential.

what would be the point of trading him unless its a part of a deal that brings you a star or a top 5 pick??

we'd look pretty stupid if we trade away a guy we picked at 17 that was starting to show he could be a player in the league just for the sake of getting a low end lottery pick that could end up being a bust

meh, he's certainly not in the untouchable category but I don't think Danny should be shopping him. If he shops him other GM's will think Danny thinks he isn't good, and they won't pay what he's worth. Now if some GM falls for him and makes a great offer, that's another story.

I think Young's value is clearly still increasing, not decreasing.  I don't see him being traded but if he was asked for in a trade for a really good player, I would certainly not treat him as untouchable.  I think he is going to be good but there will be enough other James Young's we can target with our multiple first round pick in the next few years.
