Slow day in the CB office, so I thought I'd start a discussion about the next supposed face of the NBA. From what I hear, Wiggins is flashing superstar potential, with one or two plays a game that make you ask, "How can he do that?" Is there any truth to this?

I know the stats have been going up, but can anyone who either lives in Minny or has the Wolves on League Pass weigh in?

EDIT: There is no attempt to link the Celtics and Wiggins here; it just won't happen. I just want to start a discussion about the "next big thing" on a slow day.

Another reason I am interested is I collect sports cards. I was wondering if investing in Wiggins would be smart. I'm a little wary (especially because he sells really high), but if he truly will be transcendant there is no better time than now.
to be honest, i think the celtics could offer minnesota their choice of any 4 celtic players for wiggins, and the minnesota would say no.

From what I have seen Wiggins is going to be a star in the NBA for his play more than pick status next year. At the very least he is a young TMAC or Hill. I'm not a card collector I prefer jerseys as my thing. I would buy a Wiggins signed jersey ASAP if that helps.

Wiggins just dropped 30 on his 20th birthday last night. I'd love to see how he did it. Anyone who saw the game that has some insight?

EDIT: Wiggins now has more 20 point games this year than Paul George or Kobe did.

No suprize here .

Wiggins and Parker .... Next elite stars

If Cleveland .....doesn 't win a title this year ......

Then the trade for Love is a epic screwup.

Wiggins will be ten times more valuable than Love before it's over.

The chance to have Wiggins and LeBron on same team ......is one in a million ...sorta like the luck that brought David Robinson and Duncan together .....Spurs were smart and kept both.....Cleveland will regret this ....they could have been Competetive for next twelve years .....so traded away that for maybe two or three shots at a old worn down LeBron

It would be like Kobe and Dr J landing together .......

I still think Cleveland won't win it this year . ....if they don't .....history will be unkind to,all responsible for trading Wiggins for Love.

He's still a rookie, but he's got some good defensive instincts. I think the parallels to the Toronto McGrady -- the lanky wing defender -- are pretty solid.

Hey, there's Ricky Rubio! I'd sorta forgotten about him. It will be interesting to see what Minny does with him this offseason.

Oh I know, but I remember plenty of rookies putting up big numbers and it not leading to victories.  I mean the guy he was traded for pretty much fit that mold in Minnesota.

As for the premise of this thread, as long as Kevin Love re-signs in Cleveland, they won't regret the trade at all.  26 point/15 rebound players, even ones whose numbers are inflated by being on a bad team, don't grow on trees.  Cleveland would have had serious deficiencies down low without making that trade, even if they still acquired Mozgov.  If Love re-ups, it is a good trade, I mean Love is what 26.  It isn't like he is 30.

Ah, ok. Yeah, I agree -- even if the Cavaliers never get to the Finals, it was still a good trade for them. Accumulating assets is a smart move, but eventually you have to have the mixture of good fortune and faith to use those assets to go for it the way Cleveland did. Of course, New York did that too and it didn't work out so well for them.

Minnesota is a fun league pass team.  Wiggins looks really good and more impressively than his numbers on paper, he's winning games in the west single  handedly with pathetic teammates.  Melo couldn't beat bad Eastern teams with a similar roster

When's the last time you looked at the Knicks roster?

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Since you forgot about Rubio, you probably didn't realize that Minny signed him to a 4-year, $56 million extension this past fall.  The interesting decision has already been made.
