Guy raises a legit issue. Thomas is going to want to start. And that doesn't make much sense for the Cs. That, combined with his reputation as a bit of a pr**k (not a shock considering his lineage) might prove problematic.

I get adding Thomas as a 'piece'. But it does muddy the rebuild waters a bit.

I guess s. doesn't realize that IT is not related to that other IT guy :P I must admit I thought he was his son for a while, too.

Also, it makes perfect sense that he starts. And plays heavy minutes at that, no more of that 28 mpg nonsense. He's the best player on the team right now, hands down.

Thomas is a real point guard and our first first round pick of 2015.

Ha ha yeah that's where I guessed he was headed. I never made that mistake mainly because whenever I remember hearing his name mentioned over the last few years, his not bearing any relation to his namesake is the first or second thing mentioned.

He's not related to 'the' Isiah Thomas. Named after, but not related to.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

That's fantastic news. Let's hope he only wants to be like the original on the court.

Well, in recent days we've had Patrick Ewing Jr, Tim Hardaway Jr, and Glen Rice Jr all make the NBA, so it's only natural to assume, I guess.

Meh.
These arguments remind me a bit of the argument that BB drove a big wedge between the Patriots organization and Tom Brady when BB drafted Garropolo. I just don't see it. Marcus Smart is smart enough to know this isn't about him, its about building assets to help make the team better. The two of them can coexist. Until they don't, its just manufactured media drama.
Celtics fan for life.

His take which does have some merit:

Losers

Boston Celtics
Talking around the league, the biggest question mark from trade deadline day belongs to the C's. It seemed as though Marcus Smart was destined to be the point guard of the future for the Celtics, but now they've muddled that with Isaiah Thomas, who doesn't seem to have gotten along with anybody in his short time in the league. And now you put him with Smart?

On the surface, Thomas looks like a solid player, but he doesn't fit with Boston's plans right now. By adding Thomas for a likely late first-round pick in 2016, it looks as though they're trying to get stuck in the wheel of mediocrity when they should be trying to accumulate more long-term assets.

What do all you think of this? I think he raises some worthwhile questions.
I disagree with him. You need good players. Got a good player on a great contract. You need depth. People get hurt. People get tired. You have a rotation.
It'll be fine

Don't forget Stockton Jr.

He's David and not John, though.

There's actually a funny story about that. When Isaiah Thomas was still in the uterus, his father was a HUGE Bulls fan. That year, the Bulls played the Pistons in the playoffs. Thomas made a bet with a buddy over the series, and if the Bulls lost, he would name his son after Isiah Thomas. So, long story short, the Bulls lost and we get Isaiah Thomas, with his name spelled correctly.

The addendum to this story is that his mom insisted on the proper biblical spelling. So he's Isaiah and not Isiah.

All this is true except his dad was a Lakers fan. I know because I looked him up on wiki like 10 minutes ago.
