Even without Sully we still have Zeller, KO, Bass and now Jerebko. Add the fact that Crowder has been playing some small ball 4 and I think the Cs stand pat.

True, but KO is also on the mend. I'd be fine with taking a flier on Robinson, cutting Datome to open up the roster slot.

I feel like Robinson is the kind of player that people assume DeMarcus is. Lottery talent, but it would seem something is going on behind the scenes, since he'll be on his fifth team in five four years if he's still in the league next season.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

If there's a roster spot it might be a nice buy low

Yes. Although two of those teams traded him to dump salary, IIRC. Casualty of chasing cap space?

A lack of stability in his formative years in the league can't have helped his development at all.

Although you'd wonder why none of these teams gave him a real chance. On the surface, there's a lot there -- high motor, nose for the ball, phenomenal reach and mobility... and yet pretty much everyone was in a hurry to let him go.

Sure if he would come here, I'd love to get a look at him.  Remember he went about 15 spots higher than Sullinger for a reason (and it wasn't just back injury issues).  He had a great career at Kansas and looked like he might be a real player in the league.  Just got drafted into a bad situation (for him) and has yet to find a home.  Maybe he just needs to find that spot where he can thrive (I mean look at a guy like Billups, kept bouncing around before he finally found a good spot).
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I am not sure what you mean by this. Are you saying people think he has the potential to be a stud like Cousins due to being drafted so high, but being a bozo has held him back?

I guess the wording is confusing me.

My take on him is that I think he could add more that datome, and he has length and athleticism at the 4/5 which is something we currently lack. I say give it a shot.

Agree wholeheartedly. Bring this guy in. He needs a good coaching staff and stability. He has all the tools, and may need to work on some of his offensive repertoire, but he should be able to contribute on the glass and on D immediately. Potential is off the charts. Not every day there is a potential gem just sitting there for free.

I don't think his character is the problem. It's his lack of skills.

This is probably the case. Not sure how his situation is at all related to DeMarcus, but this is a good opportunity to get a good look at this kid for the bare minimum without giving up anything for him. Sign him for the rest of the year and see if he's worth keeping.

People have to realize it's a two-way street with someone like Robinson.  Why is he going to want to come here when he's probably our fourth big in the rotation even when Sully is out, and we sometime play Crowder at the 4?  And that's not even counting that Jerebko could be ahead of him in the pecking order too.  Sitting on the bench in Boston isn't going to get him a contract come summertime.  He has two months to show people what he's got.  I'm sure there are better opportunities, and if there aren't, that tells you a lot about Robinson.

I think a lot of people think DMC's got some character issues that are holding him back, despite his prodigious talents (and they certainly thought that way when he was in college, during the drafting process). My guess about Robinson -- while I don't know the guy at all -- is that he clearly isn't the kind of player that teams think is worth keeping around in the locker room, despite being on a cheap deal and having enough ability to reasonably play backup minutes.

I should stress here that I think Cousins' attitude problems are entirely bogus and largely projection, but that they're common enough to reference.
