1. It is two words, be prepared to be mocked for titleage.

2. Buzz words can be annoying, but I think its a valuable concept that deserves discussion when it comes to high level basketball. Whether or not its a "defensive C", or just "size", its always been important.

You could even call it a phrase.

Also, one of the most prominent rim protectors of all time is also the most successful Celtic of all time. So, uh, the mystery is solved?
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

So because the celtics don't have one, it needs to be abolished?

Hey, no single ingredient is necessary for a championship team.  But this would be helpful.

It's a descriptive name for a player who prevents the other team from scoring close to the basket. There are statistics that monitor how good a player is at this, it's a real thing in the same way the the term "3 point shooter" is a real thing.

WCS in the draft!
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

It sounds dirty.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

I think we are overvaluing the importance of the "rim-protector", but unless you are playing elite team D or have elite perimeter defenders (not out of the question as many good defensive 3s are quasi-available this off season)  you need someone to make teams think twice about taking the ball to the rim.

One word or two, we need one.  Have we ever won a championship without a defensive presence under the rim?

let's change it to a "proper" center.

One that controls the painted area, one that will stop opposing large men from drilling the ball into the round cylinder that's attached to the square piece of glass at one end of the basketball field.

And ideally the proper center will have offensive talents as well.

ha ha, PaulAllen.   While I may not have any financial benefit from the Celtics, I have considered them to be "my" team for 50+ years...hence the "we."

A "rim protector" helps keep the opponent from taking the easiest shot - the one that's right at the rim!  So, I'd say it's pretty freakin' important to have one.
