Think DA will budge now if he was able to land a top player next year? Or will he lock him up and play the 2?

What do you mean by tradeable? Teams would love to get Smart, he's got elite potential. So it'd be easy to get a good package for him.

Is he moveable from the C's perspective, no I don't think so. He's the one piece of elite talent potential that we have. Until the C's don't believe in him, they need to hang onto him for that reason.

took the words right out of my mouth. I don't think so, I hate to say this and probably a lot of people will disagree, I would think that would make Bradley tradeable and not Smart

in my honest opinion with the incoming of Thomas who is going to be our starting guards

Thomas has an all around game (besides defense), shoot the ball, pass, drive...not that I hate Bradley, but between the 3 "guards of our future of Smart, Bradley and Thomas", I rather have Thomas and Smart start. With that said, is Bradley fine coming off the bench. I mean, there would be some ego issues, which I cannot blame him, he took the starting role away from Ray Allen. Will he throw a fit? Would you pay a guy that much money to come off the bench?

Or unless, you bring Thomas off the bench or use him as a package to get someone else

Well thats what I was getting at.. Do we see enough potential to to say "anyone but Smart" or not enough if a player like Cousins was available and he could be used in a package (with Thomas now )..

I think any player is tradeable to upgrade in talent in a vaccuum. The question is what's the development/contract curve and does the move make sense for a marginal or minor talent upgrade.

Aka if the C's lose Smart and multiple other assets for Cousins, how quickly will he be asking out and can you build around Cousins before he gets old or bails on you either by trade request or getting lazy.

At this point and time, every single player on this team is tradable right now for the right price. What we have is a roster full of assets and they will be treated as such until the team improves greatly

I don't know if he has elite potential. But he has more value to the Celtics than anyone else. So I would keep Smart

This month he hasnt shot well but he is averaging 9/5/5 with two steals a game and has been in double figures three games in a row. To me Smart he is untradeable, future leader of the next good C's team.

it is an interesting question.  I think having Thomas does give us a little more flexibility to trade Smart.  I think (hope?) Smart would only be on the table if the trade involved a real upper echelon talent.  But if we did need to include Smart to get say Cousins, it would be much easier to swallow knowing we had Thomas locked up for a few years and could hold down the fort so to speak at PG.

I was actually thinking about this thread last night.  I went to the game and was buying my kids a souvenir inside the Celtics shop and was watching some of the other people in there.  Every single person who bought a shirt (including me) got a Marcus Smart shirt.  They made a fortune on those shirts in just the five minutes that I was in there.  No way this guy goes anywhere, he's a cash cow!  ;D
