The Heat could announce Friday whether Chris Bosh will be forced to miss the remainder of the season following tests on his lungs.

Bosh was admitted to a Miami-area hospital Thursday after meeting with a doctor. The Heat’s power forward underwent initial tests that proved inconclusive, according to the Heat. The fear is that Bosh could have blood clots on his lungs. If there is a pulmonary embolus, or multiple clots, then Bosh would be out for the remainder of the season, and possibly longer, while being treated with blood thinners for pulmonary embolism.

A 10-time All-Star and two-time champion for the Heat, Bosh signed a guaranteed five-year contract in July for $118 million. The contract currently is the largest guaranteed deal in the NBA. With a 22-30 record, the Heat (22-30) is in eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings with 30 games remaining in the regular season. The Heat plays the 10-win New York Knicks at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Madison Square Garden.

The game in New York, Dwyane Wade’s first since Jan. 27 because of a strained right hamstring, could be overshadowed by news of Bosh’s medical condition. Bosh, 30, hasn’t felt well since earlier in the All-Star break, according Wade, who traveled to Haiti with Bosh on Monday during Carnival. Bosh and Wade were also together in New York for the All-Star Game.

Man the Heat going all in on remaining a contender is completely blowing up on them this year. If they retain Dragic they should be pretty good next year, but this year....

Will they even hold onto the 8th seed?

Blood clots are nothing to be trifled with.  That's what just killed Jerome Kersey.

Hopefully that's not what it is.

Teletovic in Brooklyn is out for something similar, isn't he?  Wonder if these are just some fluke incidents or if our ability to test  for them has improved.

Hope it's not true for Bosh, both on a personal and basketball level.

I wonder if athletes and/or tall individuals are more prone to them. I believe African Americans are more prone to blood clots of certain types.

Hopefully it's as much of a non factor to his life and career as he was during last year's Finals.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Varejao had one last year that kept him out for most of the year, as well.

Miami Herald
10 a.m. update: Doctors believe Chris Bosh has a blood clot on his lung, a condition that typically would sideline players for the duration of the season, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.

Bosh remains at a local hospital and is believed to be on blood-thinner medication. He is weak and fatigued, but the longterm outlook is good.

Though nobody has definitively ruled Bosh out for the season, it's difficult to envision him returning because of the nature of the blood-thinner medication and the toll such a condition takes on the body.

It is unclear if Bosh will require any surgical procedure.

Bosh seems like a good dude. Great character and I've enjoyed watching him his entire career. Can only wish him the best right now.
Long-form is far from dead, but please refrain from paragraph-laden posts! Who wants to read that?!

First and foremost, you have to hope the guy is OK. He really was the X factor for those championship Heat teams, and he was finallly getting a chance to be the guy and was doing a good job of it too. On top of that by all acounts he is a good dude so hopefully he will be OK.

That being said this is counteracts the Sully injury and IMO we are right back in the thick of things for the playoffs.

I believe blood clots are more common in people who are less active. Someone who lives an inactive life.

Also I believe genetics play a role also.

I just really hope the guy is ok. This is a lot different then a sprained ankle or even a torn mcl in that is actually life threatening. With good medical treatment it probably won't be, but I would have thought Kersey would have top of the line medical help too. Probably not the best subject to make jokes about.
