So the deadline has come and gone, and the C's have managed to pick up a talented, instant-offense PG for a late 1st round pick and an expiring. Nice job Danny.

Now the question is, how should the backcourt work? Who should start (and where), and who should come off the bench?

Personally, I'd like to see IT start at PG and Smart start at SG, with Bradley coming off the bench in a 6th man role and Smart shifting over to handle some of the backup PG duties when IT is off the floor.

Why? Because I think our starting lineup could really benefit from IT's infusion of offense, and, despite his ball-hog tendencies, it seems like he might even be our best distributor at the moment.   Given both IT and Bradley's size (or lack thereof), I think it would need to be Smart who starts next to him, which shouldn't be a problem given Smart's improved shooting. Then, when IT rests, Smart can bring the ball up and continue to get more comfortable running the offense while playing against other team's second units while Bradley does his thing at SG.

Agree? Disagree? Other ideas?

I think you nailed it.  When I saw the thread title I came in to write exactly what you wrote.  Good job!!   ;D

At least that's my realistic choice.  If I was coach I'd scrap AB all together and run Ike, Smart and Young out there all game.

I think the smart thing to do is to stick with the current starting lineup and work Isaiah Thomas into the rotation slowly.  Keep the team continuity as high as possible to facilitate winning the most games in a push to make the playoffs.  I think this is also the correct strategy if your goal is to maximize Smart's development by keeping him in a more comfortable, familiar situation.

Make that 3 of us. Smart would still see limited minutes at PG because he too will need to rest by the 2nd quarter. You need a third PG and my preference would be use ET there not Pressey. It's only a few minutes for that third guard before Thomas comes back in midway thru the 2nd quarter.

Right on  :)
And definitely the more burn for Young, the better. Also, would like to see ET fill in the gap for PG minutes as Surferdad suggested.

Agree....eventually. Once IT learns the system, he will supplant Bradley as a starter because of his handle, scoring efficiency, willingness to draw fouls and his P&R skills. I like Bradley as our 6th man.

Also, here's your first TP for the good OP. You should post more...good luck.
