My guess is Marcus Thornton is the most desired player that opposing teams would love to pry away from the Celtics.  If Danny does deal him, I hope he gets a lot more than 2nd round picks and salary space.  Although, he does it quietly, Thornton is one of the more important parts of the Celtic's offense.

Surely, Bass, Thornton and Prince are the 3 main targets we suspect contending teams are targeting before the trade deadline.  Non-contending teams are probably more interested in the C's picks and other players.

Is this a joke? Thornton is a dime a dozen type journeyman who is erratic at the only thing he does above average on the court, which is shoot.

I would guess the player being mentioned the most in trade discussions is Bass. Expiring that can definitely help.

The most coveted players would be the likes of Smart, Young, Sully, AB and KO.

Prince and Bass are both veterans who can help at both ends of the floor, at multiple positions, for a contender.

Thornton IMO is one the player that's going to have little to no interest. It's much harder to incorporate a volume scorer into a team when he's a lousy defender & team player. Most good teams are going to have better options.

This is according to bleacher

Prince, 34, is still capable of delivering solid minutes off the bench for a contender. The balance of his $7.7 million expiring deal makes it hard for Boston to find short-term expiring contracts in return for Prince

so I would assume it's a similar issue with Bass. Teams want help but are cheap and don't want a guy around who will only be there a little while.

I think the issue with Prince is he doesn't want to be here and has said so. So teams don't want to offer much for a guy who will be bought out.

I'm not sure I'd help anyone for free if I was Ainge. I suppose a buyout helps the Celts sorta. If he doesn't want to be here.

This is interesting...how much would it cost the Celtics?  Does a buyout mean he walks out the door with his shoes on his feet?  Or, does it mean he walks with $2,000,000 in his wallet?  If he wants the latter, then maybe he shouldn't be accommodated.

Yeah, I'm fairly sure Smart would be at the top of most teams' lists.

For vets I'd think it was Bass, Prince, or maybe Turner, depending on team need.  It's not Thornton.

You're a great salesman.  ;D

Easy prince cuz teams like Blazers and clips are waiting for us to buy him out but contract is too expensive for a trade

Bass= too much depth at PF, cannot play centre, doesn't post up, not a stretch 4

Thornton = contract is too expensive, only a microwave scorer, doesn't play d much, doesn't do anything else that well

Typically, players that are bought out give only give up a small amount (relatively speaking of course) to be set free.  So if Prince has say, 3 mil left to be paid, in a buy out he might give up 500k.  Maybe.  To give you an idea, Marbury gave back about 2 mil (out of 21 mil) when he was bought out.  A significant sum to be sure, but he still got most of his money.

That's how it works because the team is still saving money.

Thorton does play good D......

I'd remove deep bench  Randolph, Pressy and maybe (Wallace if you could) with the first round picks that would most likely turn into two seconds.

Id get Dragic and hope we can get Sanders for cheap.  Motivate him to play and make the play offs and upset the Cavs!   LOL.

Here is a trade (pipe Dream)

Boston in Dragic
Out PRessy/Wallace

Milwaukee  1st round pick and Wallace (fill in for Parker)
Out Illyasova

Suns   1st Round pick, Pressy, Illyasova
Out Dragic
