Will these players(agents) want to be bought out in hopes that a better team will pick them up?

Does Danny really want to make the playoffs?

I know CBS does and wants to keep this group together.

It will be interesting to see what happens from now until the deadline

I have no idea what the desires of Thornton/Prince/Bass are, but solely my intuition tells me Ainge would prefer this team to lose rather than win. This is playing out similarly to 03-04 in my eyes, where Ainge is likely shaking his head asking " What--- do I have to do----to ruin this team?"

For that reason, my hunch is all 3 will be gone and on to greener pastures by the deadline as part of Ainge's last ditch effort to sink this ship.

The thing is, what if he can't trade any of them?  We do get a 2nd round pick but also contracts that is not desirable to pickup

Yes

Edit: I forget we are so close to the 8th seed we might actually play in late April. So he might keep them around for a run if they want to stay.

If he can't trade them I think they'll be simply bought out. Ainge can sell it by simply saying something like " We wanted to open up minutes for some of our younger guys and players under contract next season and beyond with us." They'll probably at least wait until Olynyk is back before moving Bass I suspect.

Yeah and give those vets a chance to win a championship.

KO can takeover Bass min, Dawkins can takeover some of Thornton's min (also give Young some more min).  Crowder and Turner are playing well at the sf spots these days so losing Prince wouldn't be too damaging. His leadership will be missed though

Hard to see some bought-out action 1.5 games away from a playoff spot.

Not bad enough to get the picks we would like and tantalisingly close to the playoff positions. Love that we are so much more competitive than many expected, think it makes making moves more difficult. The long game is more important than the short game though. Having the team we want after the season and draft outweighs a push for the playoffs (except for where a move does both).

Danny has basically admitted that he sees no point in making the playoffs with a losing record. Unless we make an impact trade (for an all-star center or something), I fully expect to see the vets bought out.  They are only here so Danny can try to squeeze some value out of them before the deadline. If no opportunity arises, it's more fitting with the team's short term goals to get rid of veteran players who are preventing us from maximizing our draft pick potential.

Danny can buy out the entire team---and we'd still be in the hunt for the playoffs---the East is that Bad....I smell Playoff reform coming next season.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

Adam Silver has been talking about changing the playoffs---to where only the Division leaders are guaranteed the playoffs---then it goes by final record---meaning more no teams under .500 would make it

Dawkins second 10-day ran out and they chose not to sign him for the rest of the season, so he's no longer an option.

If he can't trade them
Shouldn't he keep them as veteran presence for the young players
And ask Stevens to play the rookies and young players more and the veterans less

I have a feeling if he can't trade prince he would keep him so clippers don't get him and improve further

Buy them all out and let the 10 day contract parade begin
