I didn't see a thread about this, but both Chandler and Ellis left last night's loss to the clippers with injuries. Ellis is getting an MRI on his hip (this sounds like it could be a bit more serious) while Chandler had an ankle injury of unknown severity. Both are expected to miss the last game before the all star break, but little is known until then.

Tyson Chandler is, in my opinion the player they could least afford to lose due to their lack of frontcourt depth and his role on their defense. Between these injuries and the blake injuries the door is opened a crack if either the pelicans and/or the thunder get hot.

Tyson is their most important player on the team right now. They're already a bad rebounding team, without him they're horrid and he anchors their defense. They better hope it's nothing serious or else they can seriously be on the outside looking in with the way the bottom half of the Western conference stands.

With Griffin out, multiple Dallas injuries, and the competitive west, there is hope of getting the 14th pick!

Of course, sitting the last game before the ASG is not rare to give guys an extended rest from nagging injuries.

Doubt Rondo will return to the court before either of those guys do.  Not nice to kick a guy while down.

And in the first half there were a few instances of the Clips just driving the lane for uncontested lay-ups. I'm really doubtful they fall out of the playoffs this year, while right now being pretty optimistic they have a number of problems with their team in '15-'16.

I think Rondo can be effective if Ellis is out.  The issue is those two trying to co-exist.

This is a big if, but if Ellis and Chandler both missed time they really could sink like a stone. Their lineup last night was one that would have been really good in about 2008. They were playing Richard Jefferson, Devin Harris, Dirk, Felton, JJ Barea really serious minutes. All those guys are on the back 9 of their careers, some much more washed up than others.

Ugh......

These teams will all be depleted by injuries by seasons end

And Charlie V, who actually shot them back into the game in the first half(short lived)! 7 games is a long way to slide, though they do have a putrid record against .500 and better teams this year, and 9 of their remaining 13 in February are against teams with winning records.

All this scoreboard and standings watching with the Mavs/Clips/ourselves has actually eclipsed the actual Celtics games as far as interest from my perspective. Somebody mentioned it yesterday, but next year figures to be crazy here given our stake in the regular season finishes of four other teams, should the Dallas pick roll over.

Edit: Misread schedule, as their next 13 games takes them into mid-March. That said, they look to have a mostly difficult road all the way until the end of the season.

He could be, but they don't who knows how long he'll be out. They haven't even completely ruled out surgery, just waiting for the swelling to go down.

Going to be very tough for them to fall out of the playoffs unless the injuries are more serious than we know to both Ellis and Chandler.

If Chandler is out long term they could be, but it doesn't sound that bad.

I hadn't looked at their remaining schedule until about an hour ago, but 19 of their remaining 28 games are against +.500 teams, so that's encouraging.
