Blake Griffin has a staph infection in his right elbow and will undergo surgery on Monday.

Wow, and it's even worse with this stretch of games coming up. They could very well hand us a lottery pick if Blake is out for a decent amount of time.

Clips say Blake Griffin has staph infection in his right elbow that requires immediately surgery. He'll be re-evaluated after All-Star break

I saw he's "out indefinitely."

I hate to see anyone get injured, particularly a guy as fun to watch and talented as BG. However, with his injury and the brutal stretch coming up for the Clippers, that pick looks like it could be very good. A lottery pick is not out of the realm of possibility if OKC+others seize the opportunity.

Right now the clippers pick is in the 20's You really think it has a chance to get 10 to 15?

At a minimum, lets how it means they lose their remaining 3 pre-all star break games to OKC, Dallas, and Houston.  That'd put them at 21 losses.  Still leaves plenty of work for Phx and OKC, but that'd be a nice improvement to the pick slotting regardless.  If he's out for a longer period of time, it could be huge in making that pick a potential lottery pick.

Since it is his right elbow (shooting elbow), I wonder if the all star break is anywhere near enough time for an invasive procedure to heal?

Here are the Clips remaining February games:

Sun, Feb 8 @ Oklahoma City
Mon, Feb 9 @ Dallas
Wed, Feb 11 vs Houston
Thu, Feb 19 vs San Antonio
Sat, Feb 21 vs Sacramento
Mon, Feb 23 vs Memphis
Wed, Feb 25 @ Houston
Fri, Feb 27 @ Memphis

That is a brutal schedule WITH Blake Griffin, nevermind without him.  They are currently 0-3 in the month, and their is an outside possibility that they go 1 - 10 in Feb (gotta think they can beat Sac at home).

I think a lottery pick from LAC is still a long shot, but it is not an unrealistic dream to start to indulge a little.

Hearing Clips clinging to hope Blake Griffin could be back in as soon two weeks. I'm told they also know it could well stretch to six weeks

Stein

RT @ramonashelburne: To clarify: Griffin is out indefinitely due to serious nature of procedure but initial projection is 4-to-6 weeks out

Well this is exactly the type of crippling injury that people have been speculating we would need in order for Clippers pick to turn into a potential lottery pick. Everything that could be going wrong for the Clippers right now has been. They are the losers of 3 straight games, the last one being a complete blowout against the Cavaliers where they were called for 5 technical fouls. There best player is going to be out for what I would assume is a going to be a significant chunk of time and there schedule gets harder in the coming weeks. Like others have said I hate to Blake Griffin injured because I admire him as a player but if Danny manages to pull this off and we somehow get a lottery pick out of this deal than that would be absolutely incredible.

That sucks for Blake but they should still make playoffs. Probably now end up 6th. Some luck for C's if that pick is under 19 wow. Pick 18 to help us win 18?

I wondering if clippers make a trade before deadline to help out while blakes out. Unless they think hawes can handle the load

Possibly, though I'm not sure what they have left for assets.  I think they've pretty much traded every pick they can trade in the next year or two and their cap flexibility is limited.

They can trade us jordan and we can give them back their first rounder and bass
