If you had asked me a week ago, I would have said the outlook for our 2015 Clippers pick was looking pretty bleak. They were riding high on a 6-game winning streak and were starting to climb to the top of the Western Conference standings.

But this past week they have lost 3 of 4. Including unexpected losses to New Orleans and Brooklyn. It looks like they are about to lose again tonight to Toronto. They had 4 technical fouls in their loss to Cleveland, there is negativity surrounding the team and they look frustrated.

This skid couldn't come at a worse time for the team. The next month and a half is the toughest stretch for them all year. Here is a look ahead at their next 16 games:

OKC x 2
MEM x 2
SAS x 1
DAL x 2
HOU x 3
POR x 1
CHI x 1
GSW x 1
--
MIN x 2
SAC x 1

They only have 3 games during this 16 game stretch against clearly inferior opponents. I'm not convinced that the clippers will falter. Chris Paul is a heck of a competitor. But if it is going to happen, now is the time Celtics faithful.

It's also worth noting that the T-wolves are playing at full strength for the first time all season. Rubio, K-Mart and Pekovic are all back to support Wiggins and company.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Interesting, it's conceivable (not realistic) that they could actually lose all of those games. That would be pretty awesome.

As the ship is sinking, we should also convince D Jordan that the cold weather in Boston is where it's at.

If the Clippers lose tonight (they will) their record will be 12-14 against teams with a winning percentage above .500. The announcers just said it.

That's a rough schedule. I'd love to get two lottery picks this summer  ;D

I believe the Clips were up 19 against Toronto in the first quarter tonight when I glanced at the score.  Glad to see they ended up getting blown out.

A lot of things have to go right in order for the Clippers to miss the playoffs.  We need Dallas and San Antonio to play better.  And we really need OKC to really put it in gear after the All-Star break, since I'm doubtful that Phoenix or New Orleans will win enough games to bump the Clippers out of the playoff race.

On the negative side, they only have one tough back to back during that stretch.  The other two B2Bs have Minnesota as the second game.  The best to realistically hope for is the clippers to finish 7th in the west and behind 5 teams in the east which would get us the 19th pick.

Yep.  Minnesota just beat the Grizzlies.  Having Rubio, Pek and Martin back really hurts their tank.

Need two of Phoenix/NO/OKC to pass clips.  Otherwise the worst they can do is the 8th seed.  Still, New Orleans beat OKC in a thrilling game this evening.  I think you're underestimating them.

Also, Suns and Clippers finish their season vs. each other.  It's unlikely, but that game has potential to be very interesting for C's fans.

You're right.  Not sure why I thought it was just one.  Seems really unlikely that the Clips will fall out of the playoffs unless a major injury occurs.

On the other side of the coin, the Clips are 9-4 against the top 8 in the West, meaning they apparently stink against the East and OKC/New Orleans.  Classic Doc team not getting up for the lesser opponents.
