I'm about to contradict myself because I just argued against trading for Kenneth Faried for the reason that its too early in the rebuild to dedicate resources to a hustle player, but this summer Draymond Green will likely price himself out of Golden State and I think it'd be the perfect opportunity to change the complexion of this team.

A restricted free agent, Green has steadily improved since the moment he began getting minutes. After falling to the 35th pick in the 2012 Draft due to a perceived lack of upside stemming from positional concerns, unorthodox shooting mechanics, and advanced age Green has established himself as the leagues premiere glue guy.

Green can defend positions 1-5. High Motor. High Basketball IQ. Elite Defender. Possesses an edge and nastiness that can shake opponents. Draymond Green may be the rare case where a player receives a max contract from intangibles instead of stats especially considering that the cap is about to rise significantly and this may be one of the last Max contracts on the old pay scales.

Now in 2015 Draymond Green is entering restricted free agency and may have priced himself out of Golden State, particularly after Klay Thompson's recent max extension. If you were in Danny's position would you try to steal Draymond Green? If so would you be comfortable offering the max?

I'd be cool with offering the max just to make Golden State match it. Tax is comin', y'all!

GSW wont max Green cuz salaries wont add up

they would need to dump Lee or Bogut

the most logical move: most likely they dump Lee because he plays the same position and u cant be paying your backup over 10 mil

but i would want Bogut out mainly because he is always injured (he hasnt played a full season since Milwaukee).

i've always said that GSW would be a contender if they stopped playing so much iso and had bogut healthy

right now they are a contender but it is because of the former reason

the only problem with removing Bogut is that who would they replace him with who can rim protect and pass like him but is healthy

omer asik? gasol bros?
not really any one they can realistically sign in free agency or can trade for

also i wouldnt want to max green and end up regretting it

like how toronto over paid landry fields thinking NY would have to match it and over cap so they would not be able to get steve nash

look how it worked for them
they ended up with fields terrible contract and they didnt get nash

If we don't someone will. If he's still tied to Michigan from college Detroit could be a dark horse to max him out, especially if they lose Greg Monroe.

Van Gundy loves those power 3/stretch 4's.

Draymond Green would look awesome in Detroit, and I love Greg Monroe. I think Monroe can be a franchise cornerstone on par with an engaged Al Jeefe, hell he already is.

Poll needs another option

* Great glue guy but not a piece you build around

Draymond Green is a guy you go after you already have a couple of building blocks already in place. Boston does not have those All-Star talents to build around and thus should be pursuing highly expensive glue guys like Draymond Green.

More fringe star talent .  Not the type  a team starting over needs .

Don't know, the types of secondary players you need till you pick up the primary starting Three , or couple, stars to build around.

this.

I don't understand the fascination for going after guys that are 'hustle' guys and thinking it's a great idea to pay them the max.  why?  we're lacking top level talent.  why overpay for guys who would be a fringe starter or more likely member of the bench brigade on a title team?

I've said  this before - I'm a huge Draymond fan but he's the guy you build with, not the guy you build around.  If we had a legit star or two I'd be all over getting him here, but you don't start with a Draymond Green.

I love Green, but he scares me. One thing is being able to play at ease when being the 3rd or 4th option on offense and being an afterthought by the defense. This allows him to get a lot open perimeter shots and easy baskets on hustle type points when the D is focused on closing out on Curry and Klay. However, how effective will he be when he's the  #1 or #2 option offensively, the defense is gameplanning for him, and when all these open looks evaporate?

We need stars who can score like Garnett, Pierce, and Allen.

We already have a good supporting cast.

The C's should go all out for Greg Monroe.
Green is solid, he would be an upgrade, but not major signing, or someone to build around.

Sign Monroe, do some juggling with our PW crew, and draft or sign a defensive minded center.
