With all the tank talk I thought I would change the pace and post a link to an article on Pau Gasol, a player Danny once coveted.

Just an idea, if the Celtics had signed Gasol this past off season, would they still be losing as much as they have?  Or, would he have made little difference?

Obviously with Danny in rebuild mode he never would have signed him.  But, I'm sure he speculated on the thought.

Gasol would make a huge difference.

I remember at one point we had considered trading Rondo for Gasol.  That would have been interesting, because at the time Jose Calderon was available for cheap and we probably could have ended up with PG- Calderon, SG - Ray, SF - Pierce, PF - KG, C - Gasol.   I think that team would have done damage.

Ahh... Remember the glory days where we could see a guy averaging 18-12-3-2 on our team and say with a straight face that we didn't need him?

On a serious note, I see a lot of post-foot McHale in Pau right now. You can see what he wants to do, and he instinctively knows what to do, but his body someimes drags behind and makes the shot tougher and less fluid than it used to be. Still capable of huge numbers, especially in a league with so few good post defenders, but visibly declining.

we would easily be in the playoffs

but we would not even be a contender so there really is no point in getting him

we would lose to atlanta, chicago (without gasol), washington, cleveland and toronto hands down in a 7 game series

We would be like the Bulls are now: A pretender championship team good enough to get bounced in the playoffs. Only difference is that the Bulls are much better than us so where we would be eliminated in the 1st round they would be eliminated in the ECF. Gasol would have been great years ago, but he was a Laker and I despise any ex-Laker wearing Celtic green; that's an insult and a big no no.
