With having a ton of cap space this year and decent free agents. What do you think we do? Does Danny wait one more year and wait for 2016 to spend it? Can anybody really see any big names coming to Boston not in trade?

i dont see any star free agents coming to boston in the near future
i mean what would be their incentive to come here, other than money which other teams have as well

usually big name free agents leave to join a team that will become a contender + enjoy the weather in the city

i think boston is going to endure through another long rebuilding period, at least 5 years including this year

DA probably tries using the lottery to draft 1-2 prospects that have star potential and try develop them
then he can trade or sign another star player to complete our new big 3

there is no point signing or trading for a player if we have no foundation for the player to be competitive from the start (they could leave or demand a trade when we start losing)

A lot depends on how many of the current squad will be kept and how many pieces will be added. Because more time is still needed before we know that Smart will be the PG going forward, the time to spend big is probably not now. A year down the track we know who we have picked up in the draft and have seen more of the progress made or not made by the current young players.

I see the blueprint that brought Ray Allen and KG to join Pierce being followed. We have no Paul Pierce among the current players and some would argue a small number of players who would be useful on a contending team. Personally I see a lot of promise in the squad though only one starter in a contending team, maybe two if we see more development from the young players.

So to attract one quality player you need to attract three I think (minimum) so they know they will be playing with a contender.

I think we will spend at least some of the capspace just for the purpose of utlizing that asset. As long as we do not have to overpay, adding quality players simply improves the pool of available assets, even though they are not stars

With the rising cap, this offseason is the time to overpay for a good player because within a year that deal becomes a bargain.

On the other hand, I don't like using big money to sign complimentary players and those are probably the only options available for the celtics this year. still, while you build around stars, that doesn't mean that you wait until you've signed a star to begin building the rest of the team. sometimes you have to take the talent when it's available. i could see a big contract going out to someone this year.
