Evidently, Bruce Irvin is the first player in the history of the Super Bowl to be ejected.

Probably not the type of thing you want to be remembered for.

I'm more convinced than ever that was THE dumbest play call ever by any team in a Super Bowl and I've seen nearly all of them .

I hope they find a spot for him personally.  People will only remember the fluke catch given up and the pick, but Butler made several great plays on the ball over the course of the game.  Certainly had a better overall showing than Kyle Arrington and Logan Ryan.

Even the fluke catch was good coverage -- he got up and tipped the pass. Three passes defensed on the night, though if it weren't the SB, I could see more than one of them drawing a PI flag.

Arrington and Ryan have the talent of making themselves look really bad on some plays... Both of  them are not coverage corners anyhow, similar to McCourty a little bit.

Absolutely agree on that fluke catch.  That was a very good play by Butler, and 99% of the time that ball finds the turf.

I think he was thinking that ball was going incomplete and didn't want to get a late hit.  He pulled up a tad then jumped over Kearse.  I don't think he had any clue until either the point he was already in the air or when he turned around on the sideline.

I thought the same originally. But he passed by just as the play was seemingly broken up, and was well out of the play when the ball was falling back into the receiver's lap.

I seriously doubt that his chances of making the team are any better or worse because Butler made that play. Belichick could care less. Butler did his job. If he wants to continue to have a job in New England he's going to have to convince Belichick he deserves one and that means practicing well this off season and playing well next pre season
