NY or Philly  gets Oak.

We might be able to BUY Nerlins or Embiid with draft picks , if they get Oak.

If either is worth a starting role .

Really the best chance Boston has , is for 76ers to get Oak ......then they will have to unload somebody .....they can t keep them all ......like OKC ....eventually they had to unload Green and Harden .

at this point Okafor is untouchable... 6th pick is more realistic.

Exactly. Stop dreaming about Okafor and Towns. We're not that bad. We are taking the 6th or 7th pick.
i believe the thread is titled "Best case offseason scenario," not "most mundane off season scenario." the point is we are supposed to dream, fantasize (in a wholesome way), and think of what MIGHT be possible if all the basketball gods aligned perfectly. for example:

- celtics luck out, get the #1 pick.
- celtics draft mudaiy (i like him, and like stirring up debates too.  ;D )
- celtics sign an great free agent.
- celtics trade for a star player.

all of this is possible.

with two great players/stars the celtics have a year where they make the playoffs, but don't win it all. next year, the team gels, mudaiy matures, ainge trades more assets for some sort of "missing piece" and they march to a championship.

heck, i should be GM of the celtics this is so easy.  ;D

First off is to tank hard enough and luck in to getting the number #1 pick.

Draft Okafor as the next great Celtic star!

Then put some packages together to teams in sign in trade deals.

First target would be Draymond Green, pay him whatever it takes in the s/t and send them sully, turner, Cleve 1st and 2nd.

Then my next target would be Greg Monroe, pay him as well and send Detroit Sullinger great fit by Drummond, the Minnesota first and the 76ers 1st.

Next year our starting lineup looks like

Smart
Bradley
Green
Monroe
Okafor

I'd be extremely pleased if we worked that out. What do you guys think?

Man what a tough season Sully's gonna have next year since according to this he'll be playing for the Warriors and the Pistons!

I'm with you.  Philly gets Okafur and we get Embid or Noels.  If it's Noels, we can still make a big push for Deandre.

I think Okafor's ceiling is Elton Brand, I know some others here are high on him.

I agree with you and think Brand is a decent comp. However I don't view this as a negative as you imply. At 6'9 with a long reach brand was a consistent 20pt 10rb 2blk PF/C until his 2007 Achilles injury. If Okafor puts up those numbers he is a top 5 center in the league. Now Okafor is about 1.5" taller and 15lbs heavier then brand adding to his potential.

If you need to push for Jordan what's the point of dealing for Noel?  They're both defense-first centers with very limited offensive games.  Go with one or the other.  If it came down to one of those 2 options I'd take Jordan as the more-established player

Best off season scenario..danny has already traded bass thorton and prince.. helped 2 teams to offload some salary with trade exceptions... got more picks... lets say with 3 picks at 5 21 and 24 but also with 31 36 and 52 .he manages via trades  finally to get 5 13 21 and 36.... picks stanley johnson, turner, dakari johnson and andrew harrison.. starts developing a.. almost playoff team with... smart harrison young bradley turner johnson crowder olynyc sullinger zeller turner johnson.... then 2016 you will have 4!!!!!! 4!!!!!!! First round draft picks... i think you can have 2 lttery talents....and kevin durant is a free agent....

In poker talk, this will be our one time. We will get Okafor.

We are due.

You mean the same Elton Brand who went for 18+ and 9+ his first 8 seasons in the league (including 20+ and 10+ in 4 of those season) before his career was derailed by injury.  I'll sign up for that.

Keep in mind Okafor is also 2-3 inches taller than Brand...

Best Case:
-Philly gets 1st pick; we land 2nd pick. Pick Mudiay for them then subsequently trade him to Philly for a HEALTHY Embiid. Mudiay hates Philly and goes back to China.
-Blake Griffin and Chris Paul are caught in a "Breaking Bad" type meth ring and are suspended for the rest of the season. They subsequently drop to one of the worst records in the league, and we pick Stanley Johnson at number 5 with their pick.
-Kevin Love sees actual defenders to his right (Embiid) and left (Johnson) and decides to sign with the C's long-term seeing our long-term potential.
-James Young hires Bruce Bowen over the summer for a three month long crash course on defense, and he turns into an above average defender at the 2 guard.
-Smart continues to work on his three point shot and pulls a "Space Jam" type move that sucks Russell Westbrook of his driving ability.

We end up with a lineup of Smart, Young, Johnson, Love, and Embiid, and we're set to become title-contenders for the next 10 years.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

I did not say that was a bad thing, I think that they are both below the rim post position players.   Okafor is better sized.   But that is who he reminds me of , I do not ever see him being a shot blocker.

ok, but do we also get to trade sully to two different teams at the same time? that was my favorite one so far.  ;D

p.s. don't forget to have the nets bottom out so their picks are valuable too. ????
