If we can't draft Okafor or Towns, what about signing Baynes next season?

He is making 2 million dollars this season and if the Celts give him a 3 year 15 million dollar deal, I doubt that the Spurs will match that.

This guy is like another Asik but with a reliable jump shot and some scoring skills.  Strong as an ox + has a 7-3 wingspan

I think Baynes plays some pretty decent ball.

Regardless, closer to the minimum than 5mil in my opinion.  Remember he's already 28 and probably not going to get any better.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

This is a great idea, I believe the Maine Red Claws are looking to shore up the center position.

I believe this thread may have been prompted by his very good display against Denver tonight.  ;)

I would certainly approve. He's also a pretty good FT shooter - rare for a big man like him.

I'm not really sure if he'd be a good fit at this stage of the team's rebuild plus the stage he's at in his career. $15m for 3 years would probably be a little steep. Tommy Point for the idea though, mate.  :)

Agree. Baynes is a solid back up big... basically Tyler Zeller with a bigger frame. I'd rather the Cs take a shot at WCS in the draft.

Baynes is a bigger/stronger zeller with a 7-3 wingspan and 9-2 reach. Unlike zellers 8-10 reach

Baynes could prob bear hug wcs into submission also.

Its been forever since we had a real center
