You guys really think Prince will change the clippers season that much? He's the savior of them making the playoffs? I don't, so go ahead get another draft pick from the clips!

I don't mind trading him to the Clippers, but they have no way of acquiring him via trade.  They had to move heaven and earth to figure out how to take on $2.4 million worth of Austin Rivers.  No way they can take on Prince who makes three times that -- and while I don't think Prince is a huge difference-maker, Barnes has been terrible, and I don't want the Clips getting talent for free.

First of all, there's no way they can trade for him without giving up a significant piece to their puzzle. Second, I'm not even sure that they can get in another team for a three way trade to make it work given their lack of assets/sizable contracts.

So it's basically between a buyout, a trade to another team, or sitting at the end of our bench. The former two are obviously preferable, and a trade is preferred over buying him out and letting the Clips get him for nothing.

I think a Fields, 2nd for Prince swap would be just about as good as we could get, which is better than buying him out and letting the Clips have him for nothing.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Me too.  They're the team that I dislike the most.

If Ainge can't find a trading partner for Prince, I'd pretty much just as soon keep his expiring contract on our roster instead of helping another team, and especially not the Clippers

To me it depends what we get back.

Can they clips go over the salary cap if they want. I thought Ballmer was all in this year.

No. They're operating under a hard cap because they have Hawes the full MLE.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I have to imagine that Ainge is thinking how we are - why would we buy Prince out just so he can go to a team who's draft pick we own? It makes absolutely no sense. It's not like the Clips are in a guaranteed position to make the playoffs - this can only help him, even if it is marginally

I agree with others that the Raptors and Blazers make much more sense. I would literally trade him to any other team not named the Clippers.
